Privacy Notice Princess Beatrice may have given a huge clue about her future role in the Royal Family by stepping in for Prince William at a major UK event recently. The royals were recently called into action when Japanese Emperor Naruhito, a university friend of King Charles III, arrived in the country. The Emperor, who ascended to the Chrysanthemum Throne in 2019, has been enjoying a week of grandeur and ceremony, accompanied by various royals for state events while the Prime Minister and other key officials are busy. Prince William, being one of the higher-ranking royals, played a significant part in the visit, which meant that 35 year old Beatrice was brought in to take on another one of his responsibilities. Although she’s not an official member of the Royal rota under the King’s slimmed-down model, she stepped in for the Prince during an Earthshot Prize event. The prize, established by the heir-to-the-throne with the support of the Royal Foundation in 2020, held a water roundtable on June 25, when William was busy welcoming the Emperor and Empress Masako to British shores. According to the Daily Express, she joined investors and philanthropists who had gathered to “explore water as an emerging investment theme”, as reported by a Beatrice fan account in a post on X. Beatrice’s involvement in the event, despite not being part of the official Royal rota, could be seen as a chance for her to join the working ranks of the Royal family. With Kate, the Princess of Wales, currently undergoing preventative treatment for cancer and stepping back from her duties, the Royal family is short one member, reports the Mirror.

Meanwhile, King Charles is also receiving treatment for cancer, although he has been steadily returning to his official duties. While a permanent expansion of the Royal working rota is unlikely, given Charles’ desire to streamline it, Beatrice and her sister Eugenie are reportedly eager to join their family members in their Royal duties, with a source previously saying they “have a lot to offer”. As the children of King Charles’ brother Prince Andrew and Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah, the sibling duo are nieces to the King. When Beatrice and Eugenie joined Prince William at his garden party back in May, royal expert Jennie Bond described it as a ‘glimpse into the future’ with a ‘more fun’ generation of royals. “I thought it was joyful to see this new generation of royals step up to help William at one of the traditional engagements of the year,” she exclusively told OK! at the time. “I think it gave us a glimpse of the future: when William becomes King. He may not have his brother at his side, but he will have a band of loyal and close relatives to help him represent the monarchy,” she added.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
