Privacy Notice A lip reader has revealed the unexpected phrase the Prince of Wales uttered after a tense moment at the Euro 2024 final in Berlin, where he was accompanied by his eldest son, Prince George. The pair, who are both keen football supporters, were engrossed in the match between England and Spain when they were interrupted by an unidentified woman wanting to speak with the Prince. The lip reader reported that Prince William seemed quite displeased with the interruption and was overheard muttering one particular word over and over again under his breath, much to the surprise of onlookers, including young George.

This incident occurred as fans watched Spain claim victory over England with a score of 2-1, dashing the hopes of England supporters once again. Nicola Hinkling, the lip reader, told the Mirror: “William wasn’t having any of it and said it ‘was already requested’. When he sat down, he muttered under his breath the word ‘sausage’.” Prince William, who is President of the FA, has been a keen supporter of the England team throughout the tournament, even travelling to Dusseldorf for the quarter-final game against Switzerland. There, he joined in with the crowd’s cheers and songs, and when England triumphed in a nail-biting penalty shootout, William was seen expressing his joy with a punch in the air, showcasing a burst of genuine emotion.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, body language expert Darren Stanton observed: “We saw William in a much more relaxed manner than ever before. During many of his engagements as the Prince of Wales, William shows feelings of happiness when necessary but still displays a professional manner.” “Normally, William would show a few smiles and walk with a stride in his step to show genuine contentment – but this time, he went a step further. It was great to see a very expressive side to the Prince. Chanting with the crowd, punching the air with his fist and displaying huge grins, were all examples of William expressing raw emotion.” The football-loving Prince of Wales also made an appearance at the England vs Denmark match in Frankfurt, where the teams drew 1-1 during the group stage, immersing himself in the drama and excitement just like any other supporter. After witnessing England’s thrilling last-minute 2-1 win over the Netherlands in Dortmund, Prince William took to social media to congratulate the team, praising Ollie Watkins’ decisive goal as a ‘beauty’.

His post read: “What a beauty, Ollie! Congratulations England! #EURO2024 Finalists. W”. King Charles couldn’t help but show his witty side as he joined the nation in supporting the England squad ahead of the final. His playful message, signed ‘Charles R’, was full of charm: “My wife and I join all our family in wishing you the warmest congratulations on reaching the final of the U.E.F.A. European Championship and in sending our very best wishes for Sunday’s match.” He added a touch of humour with a gentle nudge to the team: “If I may encourage you to secure victory before the need for any last-minute wonder goals or another penalties drama, I am sure the stresses on the nation’s collective heart rate and blood pressure would be greatly alleviated! Good luck, England.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
