Privacy NoticePrince William experienced a rare rejection when his plea for another instalment in one of his favourite film series was dismissed by the director. While attending an event organised by BAFTA and the Royal African Society, William confessed his love for the popular Jason Bourne franchise. At the Bafta gathering, which took place at the charity’s London base, William encountered Paul Greengrass, 69, who directed three of the Bourne films. The director was responsible for The Bourne Supremacy (2004), the third part The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) and the final movie Jason Bourne (2016). Upon meeting the director, William eagerly asked: “Another Bourne, another Bourne please? “.

Sadly, it seems that being the future king doesn’t always guarantee your wishes are granted, as Greengrass simply shook his head and chuckled, according to The Times. William also offered a rare peek into his domestic life with Princess Kate and their children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and six year old Prince Louis. He disclosed that the children often squabble while watching TV. The prince was discussing how various platforms and devices at home are now competing for your attention. However, the heir to the throne revealed that George, Charlotte and Louis frequently “wrestle over the television remote”. The Mirror reports that the Bafta event was all about finding ways to give a leg-up to young talent in the creative sectors. Prince William, the proud patron of BAFTA, had the chance to meet some bright sparks who’ve been helped by the BAFTA Bursary fund and others from the National Film and TV School (NFTS).

Greengrass is full of praise for William’s efforts and shared: “Prince William does such an amazing job of pulling together all these different initiatives that create pathways for young people because it’s so important in our business – pathways in.” He went on to highlight the importance of small but impactful gestures, saying, “Somebody who’s 17 or 18 coming into our business, learning to drive is essential, if they can be supported to drive suddenly they’ve got a passport. That’s the idea of this, it’s small initiatives, many of them that make big impacts.” Established in 2021 with Greengrass making the kickstart donation, the Prince William Bafta Bursary Fund is a godsend for creatives at the start line of their film, games, or television careers, offering them crucial financial support. And that’s not all – Bafta hands out annual scholarships too!Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
