The Duchess was given an engagement ring by Prince Harry, now 39, back in 2017, featuring two diamonds from Diana’s personal collection. At the time, Harry revealed that the two diamonds flanked a central stone from Botswana, all set on a classic gold band. However, it’s believed that Meghan had the ring subtly redesigned less than two years later, opting for a slimmer band as part of its “update”. The Duchess first flaunted the revamped ring at the Trooping the Colour event in 2019, alongside another stunning ring.

This year, Meghan has attended several events sans the iconic ring, including a glitzy gala in May, where it was said to be “being fixed”, reports the Express. Even more telling was her choice to leave the ring behind during the Invictus Games, despite being there with Harry. Insiders speaking to New Idea magazine have suggested that Prince William is allegedly uneasy about the fate of his mother’s precious stones. These concerns emerge amidst ongoing speculation of a falling out between William and his brother Harry, along with Meghan. Meghan Markle’s engagement ring was the topic of conversation after she was spotted without the ring at an event in Germany. The Duchess is typically seen with the ring on her finger, allegedly sparking whispers among the royals back home. Insiders are puzzled as to why Meghan, who wed Prince Harry in 2018, wouldn’t be “proudly” flaunting her ring. A source said: “And it’s safe to say it has set off alarm bells at the Palace. [Prince William’s] putting the word out through mutual friends that he wants to know what’s going on. Not knowing where they are is disturbing for William.” It’s also been hinted that Prince William is especially “always protective” over his late mother Diana’s memory, with her jewellery being an “important” part of her legacy.
