Privacy NoticePrince Harry is celebrating his milestone 40th birthday today, and while the Duke will receive some memorable royal presents, it seems that he is equally good at giving gifts too. Prince Harry is set to receive millions of pounds from the late Queen Mother when he celebrates his 40th birthday on September 15, according to reports. The Duke’s great-grandmother is said to have left a substantial amount for her grandchildren which they receive on their 21st and 40th birthdays. A trust containing £19million was set up in 1994 by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, when Prince Harry was just ten years old, to be distributed between all her grandchildren.

According to reports, on their 21st’s each brother would get £6million, this would increase to around £7million on their 40th’s, which Harry will now celebrate. But Harry is no stranger to extravagant gifts – even gifting them himself. Back in 2018, he bought a first edition of A.A Milne’s Winnie the Pooh book for his nephew, Prince Louis – an idea which was inspired by his memories of his late mother. It previously emerged that Prince Harry wanted to remember Diana’s love of collecting first editions of classic books and started to do the same for his two nephews and niece, gifting one to Louis for his christening.

And it is clear Harry spared no expense as he reportedly dished out an estimated £8,000 on an original copy of A.A Milne’s Winnie the Pooh from 1926. A friend revealed at the time: “He originally wanted to get Lewis Carroll’s Through The Looking Glass, which was on sale for £24,000, but decided Winnie-The-Pooh would be more suitable for a first tome. Robinson Crusoe was William’s favourite book, but Harry loved all things A.A. Milne.” As big gifts go, Prince Harry is reportedly planning an adventurous hike into the Californian mountains with his closest mates as a birthday treat to himself. The Duke of Sussex is reportedly planning to conquer the Montecito peak, nestled along the Cold Spring Trail.

He’s also reportedly gearing up to celebrate his landmark 40th birthday by planning a lads’ holiday to “enjoy a weekend getaway with a few of his closest mates”. The claims, reported by The Sun also revealed that his birthday getaway will follow a family birthday celebration at his Montecito mansion in California – where Meghan will stay behind with their children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three. Harry’s birthday is bound to be a happy family occasion and he is not short of material possessions, so wife Meghan won’t need to worry about pulling out the stops for a special gift as according to the man himself, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, are the greatest gifts he has ever received.
