Privacy Notice Prince Harry won’t be returning to his role as an official working royal unless he receives an apology from Prince William, new reports claim. The Duke of Sussex and the next in line to the throne haven’t been seen together at an official public engagement since their grandmother’s funeral two years ago, and there have been numerous bombshells dropped about the relationship over recent years. Now, sources have suggested that Prince Harry remains happy with decision to exit the royal family but said he would be willing to assist his dad, King Charles, with temporary duties if he was asked. Last week it was reported in the Mail on Sunday that the Duke had parted ways with his ‘Hollywood publicists’ and had been seeking advice from his former aides about how to plan a possible return to the UK from the US.

However, a source has now claimed that a return is “far from his mind” and any contact he has had with former confidantes would be more along the lines of seeking “friendly advice” rather than a strategic move with a view to coming back. The Mirror reports that 39-year-old Harry has ruled out a permanent return, and said he was putting his efforts into “making a success of his life” his life in Montecito, California, with Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet. However, the report adds that Harry would be open to taking on temporary responsibilities on behalf of the family if the request to “help out” came from his dad, the King. It also suggested that Harry would only consider the request properly if his brother William apologised for what has gone on between the virtually estranged brothers. Harry and William, 42, haven’t been seen together in public since the funeral of Queen Elizabeth in September 2022. And after it emerged late last month that they had both attended the funeral of their late uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, it appeared that all was still far from well.

But with Harry hitting his milestone 40th birthday on September 15, a source recently told OK! that he was reflecting on his damaged relationship with the brother he was once incredibly close with. “He is secretly hoping that his family offer an olive branch as he wants to be on good terms with his brother and father, especially as they all get older,” the source said. “It pains him that there is still so much anger on both sides and although it would be a complete shock to everyone, Harry is willing to have peace talks with them and try and work out their issues.” The family moved to the States in 2020, before the bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview in 2021 and the publication of Harry’s explosive autobiography, Spare. With a new paperback version of the book due out next month, it had been suggested that Harry might include a fresh chapter, but this has been dismissed. “He hasn’t updated the paperback version of his book with any new family revelations – when he really could’ve done – as he feels that’s over with now,” our source claimed.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
