Privacy Notice Prince Harry is reportedly willing to bury the hatchet with his Royal family, provided one ongoing issue is resolved, a source has revealed. Despite the strained relationship with his brother Prince William, there was hope that the feud with his father King Charles would soon be resolved – even after Harry’s critical comments in his Netflix documentary and memoir, Spare. The two met following the announcement of Charles’ cancer diagnosis in February. However, when Harry returned to the UK for the 10th anniversary service of the Invictus Games at St Paul’s Cathedral in May, no further meeting took place. Sources close to the Sussexes now claim that Harry’s attempts to discuss his security arrangements with his father are being ignored. The Duke has been involved in a lengthy dispute over his security when visiting the UK, as he lost his police protection rights when he stepped down as a working Royal. Despite losing subsequent court battles to have it reinstated for himself, Meghan, and their two children, he plans to appeal. Harry believes his father could assist in reinstating this, although a palace source has dismissed this as “wholly inaccurate,” reports the Mirror. People Magazine claims that some people believe Harry’s memoir has damaged his family’s trust in him; however, those close to the Duke argue that if he had the security he feels he deserves, he wouldn’t need to speak publicly to fund it. A friend stated that if the issue is resolved, “It’s swords down.” The source told the magazine that nothing would bring Harry more joy than rebuilding his connection with his father, adding: “At the end of the day, you can’t undo bloodlines. He’s not asking his dad for a nicer house or nicer cars. He’s asking because of the reality of the situation. He is at risk.” Harry launched a legal challenge against the February 2020 decision by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), which ruled that he would no longer receive the “same degree” of publicly-funded protection while in the UK. This decision was made due to a change in the duke’s ‘status’ after he ceased being a “full-time working member of the royal family,” according to a judge. In February, retired High Court judge Sir Peter Lane dismissed the duke’s claim that he was “singled out” and treated “less favourably” by the decision, concluding that Ravec’s approach was neither irrational nor procedurally unfair. Following the ruling, a legal spokesperson for Harry stated that the Duke “hopes to obtain justice from the Court of Appeal.”

During a High Court hearing, it was revealed that Prince Harry is concerned about the safety of his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in the UK. He feels they cannot “feel at home” if their safety isn’t assured. In a heartfelt statement from a previous session, Harry shared: “It was with great sadness for both of us that my wife and I felt forced to step back from this role and leave the country in 2020. The UK is my home. “The UK is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at home, as much as where they live at the moment in the United States. That cannot happen if it’s not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil. I cannot put my wife in danger like that and, given my experiences in life, I am reluctant to unnecessarily put myself in harm’s way too.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
