Privacy Notice There have been numerous tales about the events leading up to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2018 nuptials. From alleged family disputes, reports of a stern talking-to from the late Queen, to Meghan’s dissatisfaction with some of the wedding plans, it was undoubtedly a testing time for the palace staff. However, it seems that the staff weren’t the only ones finding it tough. It’s been claimed that several of Harry’s close school pals felt he had “changed too much” since his relationship with Meghan began. When they voiced their worries, they were reportedly met with Harry’s fury and subsequently barred from the evening wedding reception.

In the book Finding Freedom, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand reveal that Prince Harry’s mate Tom Inskip – affectionately known as ‘Skippy’ – felt like he’d “lost a friend” after Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018. The authors allege that Tom had expressed worry over the pace of Harry’s new romance and suggested the couple cohabit before getting hitched, reports the Mirror. Despite Tom’s comments supposedly “coming from a good place”, Prince Harry was said to be “very hurt” and excluded his old school chum from the evening wedding reception. They penned: “Notable [absence from the reception was] Skippy, Harry’s old friend, who had questioned the prince’s relationship with Meghan, and his wife, Lara.

“They were invited to the wedding ceremony and lunchtime reception [hosted by The Queen] but didn’t make the cut for the evening bash.” In their tell-all book, the authors reveal that Tom was visibly upset at a brunch with pals the following day. He reportedly confided in his friends that “Meghan has changed Harry too much” and lamented that “we’ve lost him”. At the same time, another one of Prince Harry’s Eton chums suggested that Harry was completely “awed by the likes of the Clooneys and Oprah.” The writers noted: “Many of Harry’s old friends said that the evening guest list was the prince and his bride’s way of saying ‘these are the people we want in our lives moving forward'”. Harry and Meghan sent shockwaves through the royal world in 2020 when they stepped back from their royal duties and relocated to the United States. They now live there with their two children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three. Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
