Privacy NoticeAs Prince Harry approaches his 40th birthday this month, a source tells OK! peace talks could be in the pipeline for the troubled family. Now a dad of two and virtually estranged from his brother and sister-in-law, The Prince and Princess of Wales, any celebrations for the former ‘Party Prince’ will be starkly different from his 30th, which was organised by his sister-in-law and held at her former 22-room apartment at Kensington Palace. According to our source, the fact that his once close relationship with William and Kate – the trio were dubbed the “Fab Three” – has crumbled so dramatically isn’t lost on Harry, especially as he prepares to enter a new decade.

“With Harry’s birthday fast approaching, he has been speaking about maybe reaching out to Kate because it’s on milestones like this when he really misses her,” they claimed. “She helped plan his 30th birthday and he feels bad that she won’t be involved and would love to catch up with her and see how everything is. “But he knows that will never happen because Kate would never go behind William’s back and she will stay loyal to the royals. It would be a complete shock if they had peace talks but Harry still feels they all need each other.” The source also claimed that while Harry might be hoping for an olive-branch shaped birthday present or two, Meghan Markle, 43, is more sceptical about what can be salvaged.

“She has her reservations over it because she’s seen how much Harry has been hurt by them but if that’s what he really wanted, then she wouldn’t ban him from speaking to his family,” they said. “They have all said their part and she would like to move on but it’s difficult.” It’s no secret that things have gone from bad to awful for the two royal brothers since Harry quit the Royal Family and moved Stateside with Meghan in 2020. However, it emerged on 29 August that the pair had both attended the funeral of their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, in Snettisham, Norfolk. Harry’s secret dash to the UK to support the Spencer side of his family was later reported, along with details that he and Prince William “kept their distance”.

While the warring brothers have not been seen together, the source is clear that Harry misses members of his family. “It’s not just Kate, he misses everyone and feels guilty that Archie and Lili don’t have a relationship with their only cousins,” our source said. “But the sad thing is, even if he wanted to, he doesn’t know where he would start. “He is secretly hoping that his family offer an olive branch as he wants to be on good terms with his brother and father, especially as they all get older. “It pains him that there is still so much anger on both sides and although it would be a complete shock to everyone, Harry is willing to have peace talks with them and try and work out their issues.”

While most of the family drama has taken place behind closed doors, much of it has been made public, thanks to Harry’s shocking autobiography Spare, and his now infamous Netflix documentaries and sit-down interviews with Meghan. The first bombshells were dropped with Oprah Winfrey back in 2021, when Meghan accused an unnamed member of the royal family of expressing concerns about “how dark [Archie’s] skin might be when he’s born” – prompting the Royal palace to say “Recollections may vary”. Then came Spare, in which Harry made shocking claims of physical altercations between him and William, and dished the dirt on Meghan and Kate’s relationship.

With the paperback version of the book due out next month, there’s been some speculation that Harry could deliver an updated copy and air even more of the family’s dirty laundry. However, according to our source, that’s unlikely to happen. “He hasn’t updated the paperback version of his book with any new family revelations – when he really could’ve done – as he feels that’s over with now,” they claim. Harry’s 40th might also have given Meghan pause for thought, they added, especially as it seems the ongoing debates about where they should raise Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, have been resolved. “Meghan just wants to make Harry happy and she feels a lot more confident that his home is now in America so she no longer worries about him wanting to move back,” the source said.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
