Privacy NoticePrince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming trip to Canada for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler in February 2025 has sparked concerns among senior aides about a potential Commonwealth crisis. A source revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s previous comments expressing their concerns about the association of 56 member states have led to several discussions within Palace walls on how to manage the couple’s connection to Canada. “Harry and Meghan haven’t exactly been very supportive in the past,” the source shared. The trip is being viewed as highly significant, with fears that any negative remarks made about the union during their visit could put the Commonwealth at risk.

“It’s even been discussed that it might be beneficial to get Harry and Meghan back on side in case there are any incidents that occur while they are promoting the Invictus Games.”, reports the Express. The couple, who originally moved to Canada in 2020 in a move known as Megxit, stepped down from Royal duties and as senior royals. There was speculation at one point that Harry would assume an official role in the Commonwealth country, but this idea was quickly dismissed when it was revealed that the Sussexes had relocated from Canada to Montecito, California. “Meghan has a close bond with Canada as she used to live there while filming Suits,” the source added. “The original plan was for them to set up base there and Harry would take on some kind of semi-official role, but it didn’t work out so they moved to the United States.”

A source revealed that communication within the Royal Family has become limited, with minimal collaboration between the Sussexes and The Firm. The insider commented: “Let’s just say their [Harry and Meghan’s] views haven’t changed,” and mused, “It will be very interesting to see how that pans out.”
