Privacy NoticePrince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently facing criticism due to inconsistencies noted between two significant interviews. The pair have been accused of “trying to rewrite history” after remarks made during their recent Netflix docuseries seemingly contradicted previous statements. Initially, the focus was on their 2017 engagement interview with BBC presenter Mishal Husain, who rebuffed Meghan’s claim that the interview was nothing more than an “orchestrated reality show”. In their latest Netflix docuseries, Meghan alleged that the initial chat was “rehearsed” and labelled it a “reality show”, describing Ms Husain as “neither empathetic nor warm enough”.

The Mail’s Richard Eden didn’t hold back in his response to Meghan’s comments, following Husain’s reflection that she “didn’t know what to make of” Meghan’s remarks at first. She identified contradictions in the couple’s story, highlighting that they previously said they met through a blind date but, instead, revealed on their Netflix show that they initially connected via Instagram. Richard shared his thoughts with Palace Confidential, saying: “They [Harry and Meghan] really are [trying to rewrite history], I think Meghan is trying to rewrite history.

“There’s one version that was out at the time, and she’s trying to say ‘no, that’s not what happened at all’. And now, this is Mishal Husain saying ‘oh wait a minute, don’t just try to rewrite history like that,'” reports the Express. This is not the first time that the couple have been accused of sharing different accounts of the same story. One inconsistency comes when Harry recalls his first date with Meghan Markle, which took place at Soho House in London. Writing about their first meeting, the royal describes Meghan as wearing a black sweatshirt, jeans and heels. And while he notes that he knows nothing about fashion, he said he could tell she was “chic”, admiring her “no frills” look and describing her as “heart-attack beautiful”.

But his comments are at odds with Meghan’s own account. When she was reunited with her Givenchy wedding dress for an ITV documentary, Meghan revealed she had a thread from the dress sewn into her veil as her ‘something blue’. Seeing the dress for the first time since her wedding during ITV’s Queen and Commonwealth, she said: “My goodness, it’s amazing, isn’t it? Somewhere in here, there’s a piece of… did you see it? The piece of blue fabric that’s stitched inside. It was my something blue. It’s fabric from the dress that I wore on our first date. It’s nice to see it again. It’s beautiful.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK! MagazineFacebookTwitterCommentMore OnMeghan MarklePrince HarryNetflix
