Privacy NoticeA previous Pointless contestant has recalled the embarrassing moment filming was halted due to his shiny bald head. On Tuesday, 23 July, presenter Gary Davies, who was covering Vernon Kay’s show on BBC Radio 2, took to the airwaves and asked listeners to tell him about the most embarrassing thing that had happened to them in a very public place. Scott, from Canterbury, wrote in and recalled his time on the hit BBC game show. He recalled: “I was a contestant on Pointless back in 2011. Mid-way through the first round, they had to stop the filming in front of around 200 audience members, [presenters] Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman, and the other contestants because my bald head was blinding the cameras when the lights were on. “Cue ten minute pause while they applied copious amounts of powder to my nervous, sweaty head. I was mortified!”

Scott added: “I would go on to win though, so it was worth it.” Presenter Gary extended his sympathies to him, saying: “Poor you Scott, I really feel for you.” Former Pointless presenter Richard recently shared why TV presenters might appear to look “very ill” on camera. Richard, who created the popular BBC One series Pointless in 2009 and co-hosted it with Alexander Armstrong until he left in 2022, is also known for presenting his own show, Richard Osman’s House of Games. Chatting with co-host Marina Hyde, 49, on their podcast The Rest is Entertainment, Richard gave fans a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into his life as a presenter and explained what really happens when a presenter has a cold.

Richard, who spoke about returning from a long flight, told Marina that he had already shaken off his jetlag. Marina cheerfully responded, “I’m very pleased you are over your jetlag. I think we should get straight into this.” Richard then jumped in to go deeper into his health worries and how any concerns could impact his role as a presenter. He said, “Can I just say one thing?”. He went on, “When I had that jetlag I was thinking, ‘Oh actually, I might have a bit of a cold’. And it made me think.” He added, “If you’re a quiz show presenter – no one has asked this question but I’m going to answer it anyway. When you’ve got a cold people think you’re very, very ill.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
