Privacy NoticePhillip Schofield has threatened to expose his former co-workers after saying he was ‘thrown under the bus’. The TV star, who co-presented This Morning alongside Holly Willoughby, is back on the small screen after a lengthy 16-month break following his admission of an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a young runner who worked on the ITV show. As the second episode of Cast Away aired on Channel 5, Phil spoke candidly about feeling betrayed by colleagues during the scandal. Confiding with viewers, he said: “People just went, who I thought were my friends and they just went and that’s like ‘what the hell’.” He added: “I have been chucked under a bus, and I could drive the same bus over so many people but I’m not that sort of person, I never have been.”

“And who knows,” he reflected, “But if I sit down with a camera and the light’s going, who knows what I’ll say.” Delving deeper in the second instalment of his three-part show, Phil confessed: “I miss parts of being on TV, certainly. I miss most of it, if I’m honest, I miss most of it. But there are bits that I really, really, really don’t miss. You learn a lot about people, I don’t miss that.” He also spoke about why he decided to take part in Cast Away and seemed to reveal it could be his last TV appearance. “This is me having my say as I bow out and the thing is when you do a programme like this and you do it just for yourself, you have nothing to lose,” he said.

“They’ve taken pretty much everything from me, reputation, dignity, legacy, everything – anyway, I’m not bleating, I’m just getting it off my chest. The reason I am doing that is because I am loving this challenge, I am loving what I am finding out about myself, and loving every day. When I get on that boat and leave here I will know that I did my best and I’ve said my piece, and anyone who is bitter about that, honestly you can f**k off because I don’t give a s**t – I quit!” Phillip’s dramatic statement prompted comments from viewers on social media as the episode aired, with many criticising the presenter for his statements. One wrote: “He claims he no longer wants to be on TV, so why are you on TV Phillip?” while another commented: “‘I don’t want to be on telly anymore’ says the man who will never be invited on telly anymore.” However, some fans were supportive, with one saying: “I understand and appreciate your struggle. Live your best life because it is your life,” and another adding: “This is really quite sad.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
