Privacy NoticePhillip Schofield has boldly told his critics to “kiss my a**e” after making an appearance on the contentious Channel 5 show, Cast Away. The 62 year old TV star saw his career crumble last year when he had an “unwise, but not illegal” affair with a much younger male colleague behind the scenes of his ITV show This Morning, which he used to present with Holly Willoughby. However, he made a comeback this week on Channel 5’s Cast Away, where he was left on a deserted island to survive on his own for a 10-day stretch. Armed with cameras, the disgraced TV host opened up about his thoughts and feelings following the termination of his contract with ITV. After the three-part docuseries wrapped up, Phillip took to Instagram to post a picture of himself running naked into the darkness from the final episode of the series.

He captioned the photo: “Thank you for your incredible support, I’ve been shown hundreds of lovely messages which are very important to me. I’m so proud of the shows.” He cleverly placed the caption to cover his bare bottom, adding: “Obvs the haters can… kiss my a**e,” reports the Mirror. Phillip’s show didn’t make much of a splash on TV, as ITV drama Joan outperformed his documentary when it aired on Monday night. During the show, Phillip turned to the camera and declared he was leaving television for good. He stated: “I. Don’t. Want. To. Do. It. Any. More. I’ll be slammed for this! ‘Phillip Schofield in mad rant.’ But the thing is, I don’t care anymore. I don’t care.” He went on to say: “This is me having my say as I bow out. And the good thing is, when you do a programme like this, and you do it just for yourself, you have nothing to lose.” Sign up to OK!’s TV newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

Ignoring the fact that he may have sabotaged his own career, he continued: “They’ve taken pretty much everything. Reputation. Dignity. Legacy. Everything. Anyway, I’m not bleating. I’m just getting it off my chest. The reason I’m doing that is because I am loving this challenge. I am loving what I’m finding out about myself. I’m loving every day. “When I get on that boat and I leave here, I will know that I did my best and I said my piece.” He concluded: “And anyone who’s bitter about that honestly, you can f**k off. Because I don’t give a s**t. I quit my job. Mic drop.” His words, however, didn’t sit well with the British public, as many labelled him a narcissist. One disgruntled viewer criticised him via X, posting: “It’s all someone else’s fault! Not his!” Another added: “Good riddance to him and let’s hope he never graces our TV’s again!” A disgruntled fan didn’t hold back their feelings about the star, posting a fiery comment: “What a narcissist piece of absolute s**t… he has to go on TV to say he’s bowing out of TV!! He’s saying everything’s been taken from him…. No. Just no one sane wants to watch his lying, cheating face.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
