Privacy NoticeFormer This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield is rumoured to be making a sensational return to our screens as he’s tipped to join the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! lineup for 2024. The 62 year old TV veteran could be heading into the iconic Australian jungle on the ITV show hosted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly. If true, this would mark his first TV appearance since his dramatic exit from This Morning in May 2023 following revelations of an affair with a younger male staff member. Since the scandal broke, Phillip, who also stepped down from his Dancing On Ice hosting duties alongside Holly Willoughby, has kept a low profile. He’s been keeping his personal life under wraps and spending quality time with his family after his shocking fall from grace. However, there’s been recent chatter about a potential TV comeback. The former This Morning star, who remains close friends with Ant and Dec despite the controversy, could be set for a stint in the jungle.

A source exclusively told the Mirror that Phillip might be planning to salvage his reputation by heading Down Under where he’ll likely face questions about his affair and its aftermath from his fellow campmates. Phillip was recently spotted enjoying a day out with I’m A Celebrity host Dec, 48, where they were seen sharing a hearty laugh together. The recent sighting of Phillip with I’m A Celebrity host Dec has fuelled rumours that he might be set for a stint in the jungle, and bookies are taking note, slashing his odds to just 4/1. Sportscasting.com’s Andy Newton weighed in on the buzz, saying: “Phillip Schofield, who left ITV under a cloud just over a year ago, looks ready to make a TV comeback – if his recent public sightings are anything to go by. “It seems Schofield has been testing the water by stepping out of hibernation to gauge people’s reactions and with a string of celebs getting behind the former This Morning presenter – this will give him the confidence he needs to make a return. “An easy route back to getting plenty of airtime is via one of the popular reality shows and with Schofield recently snapped laughing and joking with I’m A Celebrity’s Declan Donnelly – the 4/1 on offer on a TV comeback in the jungle doesn’t look the worst shout in the world.”

After a period of silence following his controversial departure from ITV, Phillip has been cautiously re-engaging with social media, sharing updates about his dog and receiving thousands of likes from supportive fans, despite turning off comments on his posts. He confessed in a candid BBC interview that his daughter was his saving grace, admitting he felt ‘broken and ashamed’. After stepping back from the public eye, the father of two took refuge with his family in Cornwall. Edward Coram James, a crisis management expert and CEO of Go Up, believes Philip’s measured response might just pave the way for his return to television. Speaking to the Mirror, he said: “It’s hardly surprising that Schofield is now considering a comeback, and that producers and networks may be lining up to make him job offers. There are many ways that Schofield could have reacted that could have cemented his fate for the worse. Instead, his behaviour during and after the scandal is a textbook example of how people should act in the face of PR disaster. It’s a feat that very few manage to pull off. But it’s given Schofield the opportunity for a second chance.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
