Privacy NoticeTOWIE star Pete Wicks faced his fears in tonight’s episode of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins as he was tasked with completing the water challenge – that last series left him in hospital. Pete, along with the other 13 recruits, had to climb a platform and fall backwards into open water in the final task. But for Pete, water challenges come with bad memories. In the series that aired last year, Pete jumped out of a helicopter and as he hit the water, Pete was knocked unconscious and the impact also broke several of his ribs. The star consequently had to leave the series – which is why he decided to return this year.

Pete was determined to face his fears in the final Celebrity SAS challenge

Prior to jumping off of the platform, Pete spoke to the camera where he addressed the incident from the last series. He said: “Last time I thought water would be my strong point and I knocked myself unconscious and I broke a couple of ribs. I cannot be the person who f****d it twice. Pete then confessed that he’s ‘not been in open water since’ and that he’s developed a ‘weird fear of the sea’. Pete also said he’s experienced ‘flashbacks’ from the incident – but admits he’s not sure if they really are memories. Pete did fearlessly face the challenge and passed with flying colours as he hit the water uninjured.

She explained: “Pete Wicks was medevacked off the mountain. He collapsed.” Fellow recruit and Geordie Shore star Marnie Simpson, 32, added: “I felt bad for Pete because coming back the second time, there was so much pressure on him to do even better than the first time so he pushed himself way too far.”

Pete sadly get injured in a later challenge

The series was filmed last year in New Zealand which is lucky as Pete is currently competing in Strictly Come Dancing. In the very first show on Saturday (21 September), he and pro dancer Jowita Przystal put on an impressive performance, but the judges weren’t blown away by the duo’s efforts. Pete and Jowita received scores of 4, 5, 3 and 5 from judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke. Overall, the pair scored 17 out of a possible 40, leaving them disappointed. After reflecting on his performance and the feedback given, Pete wrote on his Instagram Stories: “It can only get better,” followed by a laughing emoji.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
