It was reported on Wednesday, 16 October, that the One Direction star had fallen from the third floor of a hotel in Argentina. It’s believed that Liam fell from a height of around 13 or 14 metres, resulting in “very serious injuries incompatible with life.” Liam was on holiday in Buenos Aires with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy when the incident took place. The devastating news has left fans and celebs in mourning, with many sharing heartfelt tributes on social media. Paris Hilton took to X, formerly Twitter, and wrote: “So upsetting to hear the news of @LiamPayne passing. Sending love and condolences to his family & loved ones. RIP my friend.”

Miley Cyrus also paid her respects and said: “rest in peace liam payne.” While Steven Bartlett also penned: “I cannot believe what I’m reading about Liam Payne absolutely heartbreaking.” JLS star Marvin Humes took to Instagram with a heartwrenching tribute alongside a photo with Liam. In the caption, he wrote: “I first met Liam in 2008 with the JLS boys whilst auditioning for X Factor..he was 14 years old..we instantly clicked and looked at him as a little brother..that year it worked out for us but not for him and then 2 years later he went back to audition and One Direction was born..the rest is history.. “Absolutely heartbroken by the tragic news.. Liam you wanted to be a global superstar and you did it bro..just can’t believe that things have ended this way..it’s shocking..my thoughts and prayers are with all your family and friends brother..RIP.” The X Factor stars Jeward also said: “Sending strength to Cheryl and his son Bear and all the One direction Family RIP.” Jaymi Hensley-Marmon from the band Union J wrote on his Instagram Stores: “This tragic news about Liam Payne is hitting far too close to home sharing how similar circumstances are RIP. 2024 can get f***ed.”

Martin Lewis also expressed his condolences and wrote on X: “Shocking and tragic. Rip. I don’t know him, but this felt like a gut punch reading this about such a young man. Thoughts with his loved ones.” Actor and film producer Noel Clarke also said: “Liam Payne – oh no man. So young as well.” Confirming news of the incident that led to Liam’s tragic death, the local ambulance manager in Argentina released a statement to TN. It read: “At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel. “At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group.
