Scott has revealed he is still in therapy following his time in boyband 5ive (Image: None)Scott Robinson, a member of the 90s boy band 5ive, has revealed he’s still in therapy over two decades after finding fame at just 18 years old. His comments come in the wake of the tragic death of One Direction star Liam Payne, who fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires earlier this week. Liam, known for his time in the globally successful boy band, shot to fame in 2011 after being put together with Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan by Simon Cowell on The X Factor. As fans grapple with the shocking news, Scott, now a presenter on Radio Essex, has called on record label bosses to learn “from their mistakes”.

He confessed that he “really, deeply struggled” during his time in the band and turned to alcohol to cope. The 44 year old has detailed the traumatic impact of sudden worldwide fame on young people. Just ten days after auditioning for the new boyband in 1997, he had left his family home and relocated to Surrey, but was forbidden from telling his now-wife Kerry about his whereabouts. When their debut single Slam Dunk (Da Funk) reached the top 10, life changed “instantly”. He remembered feeling that the only safe place was locked in a room with a mini-bar. Despite resisting drugs, they were constantly available, reports the Mirror.

Scott wrote: “I’ve got a really stable life now but I still have counselling because of stuff with the band, even now, 23 years later. It doesn’t seem like record labels have learned from their mistakes. They’re certainly looking after your money but they’re not looking after you.” In a tragic turn of events, Liam fell from the third floor of a hotel building in Argentina’s capital. Emergency services, including police, firefighters and ambulances, were spotted outside the hotel following the horror incident. Reports suggest that police were alerted to a man behaving aggressively at the hotel, possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A body was discovered in an internal patio of the hotel, with the hotel manager being the one to call the authorities. It’s believed that Liam fell from a height of around 40 feet, sustaining “very serious injuries incompatible with life.” In a statement signed “Louis, Zayn, Niall and Harry”, Liam Payne’s One Direction bandmates said: “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. “In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly. “The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK! MagazineFacebookTwitterCommentMore OnLiam PayneOne Direction
