Privacy NoticeNoel Radford, the proud dad of Britain’s largest family, is embarking on a heartfelt journey to find his birth parents, despite always cherishing his adoptive mum and dad. With their youngest child Heidie set to start school in September, Noel and his wife Sue, who also grew up adopted, are facing a new chapter where they can enjoy time together without kids around for the first time in three decades. Ahead of the new series of 22 Kids and Counting, which airs on Sunday, July 21, Noel shared that he began the search nine months ago with Sue’s support. The Morecambe-based couple are aware it might be a challenging path. Noel told Mirror Online: “I have made steps to find out more. I know it could turn out to be very tough. When you watch Long Lost Family, 95% of those looking turn out to be happy stories but sometimes it is not like that. Even so, I am curious and nosey to discover more.”

Sue, however, has different feelings about her own origins. While she supports Noel, she confesses she doesn’t share the same need to seek out her biological mother. She said: “It’s hard watching Noel get upset about it all but it’s a personal choice. Some people are desperate to know where they came from and why they were put up for adoption. Noel is very much like that. I am not really interested.” If successful, Noel’s biological parents will be in for a shock as they discover they have 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. As they await the news, Sue and Noel, who own a bakery and have never relied on state benefits, are firm in their decision not to adopt. They’ve considered it before, but now, with their youngest Heidie set to start school in September, they’re ready to begin a new chapter focusing more on their relationship. Sue shared: “We have done so much with the kids, it is time for our time. They will all be at school. Noel will be able to take days off to spend together. We haven’t done that for 30-odd years.” Noel added: “It won’t be too rock ‘n’ roll. We won’t be going to nightclubs, we will be going to garden centres.” When asked about the secret to their 32-year-long happy marriage, Sue, who fell pregnant with her first child at 14, insisted: “No marriage is perfect. You always have your ups and downs but we are definitely soulmates.”

Their upcoming series will be their most personal yet, documenting the daily challenges of raising 22 children Chris, 35, Sophie, 30, Chloe, 28, Jack, 27, Daniel, 25, Luke, 23, Millie, 22, Katie, 21, James, 20, Ellie, 19, Aimee, 18, Josh, 18, Max, 15, Tillie, 14, Oscar, 12, Casper, 11, Hallie, nine, Phoebe, seven, Archie, six, Bonnie, five and four year old Heidie. Alfie, the 17th child of the dynamic duo, was stillborn in 2014. Notably on the horizon is their daughter Millie’s wedding to Harley Passmore, father of her two children, Chester, two, and Elodie, 10 months. From a prior relationship, she also has another daughter. With his classic humour, Noel remarked that they can’t afford to splurge on the wedding given the additional expenses on the horizon. He joked: “I am happy to go against tradition and for everyone to chip in! ” Sue quickly interjected: “But it is really exciting. We’re in the throes of wedding planning.” They are also anticipating their 11th grandchild their daughter Katie is expecting a baby boy in October. However, despite being the parents of Britain’s largest family, Noel and Sue remain humble and unphased by fame. “We are not celebrities,” declared Noel. “Celebrities are the likes of David Beckham! We’re just Sue and Noel from Morecambe.” Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
