Privacy NoticeBBC chiefs are reportedly worried that Nick Knowles’ stint on Strictly Come Dancing could come to an end after the DIY SOS legend was forced to quit tonight’s episode due to a knee injury. Despite the 61 year old’s determination to hit the dance floor again next week, whispers within the show suggest the departure of one of its most loved stars is a “real possibility”. Barely shaking off a shoulder injury in time to perform last Saturday, Nick is now set for an MRI scan following a knee mishap during practice sessions. He and his dance partner Luba Mushtuk received a pass this week. A source told the Mirror: “The fact he is getting scans shows just how serious this is. There is only so much time they can give him to recover. Nick is a popular guy and losing him so early in the competition would be a blow to the show’s ratings too. It doesn’t look great at the moment so everyone is just hoping the outlook is better after the weekend.”

This latest hurdle comes as a stinger for BBC bosses who were aiming for a smooth sail with this year’s instalment post the debacle of last year’s bullying claims report. It was recently confirmed that Amanda Abbington’s complaints of verbal harassment against Giovanni Pernice were upheld, while the professional dancer was cleared of using any physical aggression. The source commented further: “They can’t afford to lose anyone else when they’re trying to kickstart the series after the report was published this week. They need to move on with some more positive news.” OK! has contacted BBC for comment. Nick, a TV presenter from Southall, West London, expressed his determination to return to the dance floor despite his injury, saying: “Even if we have to glitter up the crutches, I am determined to get back and dance for you next week.” His dance partner Luba added that they hope his knee will recover in time for next week’s performance.

After Strictly announced that Nick would be missing this weekend’s show due to an injury sustained during rehearsals, he took to social media to express his disappointment. The show’s post stated that Nick and Luba would receive a bye to next week, and everyone at Strictly wishes Nick a speedy recovery. Nick wrote on X: “I’m absolutely gutted and feeling very very sad,” accompanied by a sad face emoji. Fans quickly responded with well wishes, with one writing: “Hope you’re on the mend soon. What a shame you’re missing out on movie week.” Another fan typed: “So sorry to hear that! I hope you are ok! #Strictly.” A third fan commented: “Take Care Lovely, See you back next week.” Just before the announcement that he won’t be taking part this weekend, Nick expressed optimism about his chances of progressing in the competition. Chatting with supporters on social media, one admirer sent their best wishes: “Let’s hope you get through over the weekend fingers crossed.” Nick responded with a series of fingers-crossed emojis. The dance pair were set to perform a Charleston to ‘Rain on the Roof’ from Paddington 2 for this evening’s movie-themed event.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
