Privacy NoticeEastEnders icon Natalie Cassidy has dropped some intriguing hints about who she is closest to on the set of the soap in the latest instalment of her podcast, ‘Life with Nat’. Chatting with her other half Marc Humphreys in episode 26, cheekily dubbed ‘Scraping the barrel’, Natalie opened up about her bond with the crew on the beloved British show. She delved into her curiosity about the ins and outs of television production, admitting that her eagerness to learn could potentially rub people up the wrong way. Natalie didn’t hold back in expressing her opinion that the sound department often doesn’t get the recognition it deserves, despite their hard work behind the scenes amidst the chaos of shooting. Pouring her heart out, Natalie confessed: “I’m always nice to the crew, you know I am… On a serious note, the crew are more my friends than anyone else.”

Her passion for understanding every aspect of the show’s creation was clear, as she continued: “I’m very interested in every part of it and how it goes together. I think also once you’ve worked somewhere for 30 years, give and take…”, reports the Mirror. The soap star admitted her tendency to be a bit too involved: “I just like to keep myself occupied which also is not always a good thing because you’re actually getting involved in someone else’s job quite a lot of the time. I’m very nosey and I do get involved in things I probably shouldn’t.” She acknowledged the importance of letting professionals focus on their roles: “You should really let people get on with their own jobs. No one steps in and does my lines…I’ve got a keen interest in every department…a very keen interest in directors.” Natalie opened up about the unsung heroes behind the scenes, saying: “I’m going to be told off, now, by someone. It’s the one that always gets forgotten about in my eyes, the sound department.” She continued to praise the hardworking crew, adding, “I just feel that lighting has their time, cameras have their time and the boom guys, the ops, just get on with it. I never hear them moaning…they just get on with it don’t they? ” Chatting with her partner Marc, a TV cameraman, Natalie mused on the perks of their profession: “I love chatting about work and I do love filming different sets, different things, I feel like we’re very very lucky in our careers. I can’t imagine going to the same office every day and seeing the same people…I just can’t imagine doing that.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
