Privacy NoticeChicken chain Nando’s has revealed that they are slashing prices across their mouth-watering menu. The reason for the cheaper menu is that last week chancellor Rishi Sunak announced in parliament that the VAT on food in restaurants, cafes and bars will be reduced from 20% to 5% from 15 July up until January to help the hospitality industry. And this is great news for fans of the Portuguese chain because scrummy sides such as halloumi sticks are 50p cheaper down from £3.95 to £3.45. Whereas a quarter chicken has been cut down to £3.70 from £4.25, saving you 55p.

Currently, 360 branches have now been opened for click and collect as well as delivery, but only 10 are open for dining in, including restaurants in London, Liverpool, Birmingham, Bolton and Manchester.

But in August eating in many restaurants will be made a lot cheaper owing to the ‘eat out to help out’ scheme, which was also announced by the chancellor in the same speech. The plan is that diners who plan to eat out at restaurants or cafes during August will find that they will receive up to 50% off their food. This means that customers will be offered half-price meals, up to £10 her head, on meals out during August, however the offer will only apply Monday to Wednesday of each week.
