Privacy Notice Roger and Janey became an instant hit with ITV viewers when they embarked on a romance on My Mum, Your Dad back in 2023. Now, one year after they first met, the couple joined the Loose Women panel to discuss life after the show and reveal they were pretty much living together. However, Roger became emotional and welled up as Janey revealed what her father told her after seeing her with her new partner. Janey recalled being told ‘we like Roger, don’t push him away,’ prompting him to break down on the show. Janey recalled: “They said, ‘So why are you here?’ and I could feel it coming, I wasn’t going to say anything but I thought, ‘I’ve got to be honest here,’ I know I’ve pushed people away in the past. There’s some traits in me and adopted people that you carry and never address it.
My Mum, Your Dad’s Roger in tears as Janey share’s family’s verdict on romance
“I felt for the first time in my life, ‘Well done Janey, you’ve just gone and said it on live TV.’ You don’t even tell people you meet but thank goodness I did. “People messaged me saying, ‘that’s exactly how I felt,’ and when I said I push people away, something very sweet – my Dad doesn’t do reality TV, that’s how he is, but he messaged me after watching it and said, ‘We love Roger, don’t push him away.'” The whole panel went “aww” as Roger welled up and was seen wiping tears away.
Roger became emotional as he heard what Janey’s dad said about him
Elsewhere, Roger admitted it was love at first sight when he saw Janey. He told the panel: “It didn’t show on the show itself but she came in and I obviously liked what I saw straight away. We just hit it off. She just said randomly, ‘what am I like?’ and I said, ‘I know what you’re like.’ Everyone was looking at us and we were off in our own little world.” Jane Moore asked: “Is it weird a year on to see the moment you first met on TV?” “It’s lovely to see but I was filling up watching it,” Roger admitted as Janey added: “When you see it, it’s like ‘oh no, don’t set me off.’ It was a very emotional time. There was anxiety, it was a big thing. It does take you back. It’s an outer body experience really.”
Roger revealed they have ‘more or less moved in together’
Later in the interview, Janey said it felt like an outer body experience but she told herself, “I could meet someone very special” before Roger walked in. Linda Robson probed: “How important was it for your kids to approve of the relationship?” “Massively,” Janey explained. “William was a bit more hard work I would say but I think it’s because it’s just been myself and him for 19, 20 years. He’s not lived with anyone. He’s protective over me and seen me get hurt.” Now, one year on, the pair revealed they have pretty much moved in with Roger putting three toothbrushes in Janey’s home and she joked he needed more space for his clothes.
