Privacy NoticeOn the latest episode of This Morning, Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley caught up with My Mum, Your Dad’s first season charmer Paul and his daughter Mazey. Paul became a fan favourite on the ITV programme last year when he found romance with fellow single parent Natalie. Despite the initial sparks, their relationship didn’t stand the test of time, and now Paul is gearing up for another stint in the love nest. Reflecting on his time with Natalie, Paul opened up about their connection to the two presenters. He said: “In the house, it’s kind of like a holiday. You’ve got no real life. So, when we come out we had a good few months but we just unfortunately weren’t compatible. We had a good nice few months together though.” When quizzed by Cat about his reasons for giving the dating show another go, Paul shared that he’s keeping an open mind as he didn’t want to close the door on any opportunity, reports the Mirror.

Mazey was all in when asked about her reaction to being invited back, exclaiming: “I was like 100%!” She revealed that her dad took some time to come out of his shell during the initial weeks of the first season, eventually finding his groove. Mazey also mentioned how beneficial the workshops were, making a return to the show even more appealing: “The workshops were amazing as well, so I thought that would be good to go back for.”

Opening up about his return to the show, Paul revealed feeling completely at ease this time. He elaborated: “I went in there and this time around I was completely myself. It was almost like walking into my home, getting my slippers on, getting the cigar out, it just felt so comfortable.” Reflecting on his initial experience in season one, he shared: “Whereas in season one, I went in and I didn’t know what to expect and I closed up. I saw the cameras and it was just very daunting.” When Ben probed whether Paul could lend a helping hand to the newbies based on his previous stint, Paul admitted he became a pillar of support for the nervous single parents.

He added: “My shoulder was there for them. I was like, I felt exactly the same last year just give it a few days and relax then it’ll make it a lot easier. I formed a friendship with them a lot quicker as well, for that reason.” Despite things not working out with Natalie, Paul hinted at a budding romance within the mansion. He played coy but let slip some admiration for Steph, he said: “She is a very interesting lady, when she’s in a room she kind of owns the room and I think everyone appreciates that, she’s a very nice lady.” My Mum, Your Dad is available to watch on ITVX.
