Privacy NoticeIt’s been a rollercoaster 12 months for My Mum, Your Dad’s Janey Smith. First, the 48 year old singer and recruitment manager went on Davina McCall’s new middle-aged dating show and met postman singleton Roger, 59, who was looking for love after his wife’s tragic death. Then the two began a romance that’s touched the hearts of the nation, regularly posting updates together – including a fabulous holiday covered by the cameras on This Morning – and finally moving in with each other. Now, Janey’s shared an emotional moment as she sent her 21 year old son, Will, off on holiday on his birthday. Will was 19 when he nominated his mum for the TV show, saying: “It’s getting a bit desperate now! We need a good chance of getting her to find someone. If it takes me to get involved, then that’s apparently how dire things have got!”

Roger and Janey celebrated their first anniversary together back in May, opening up on their romance and their future exclusively to OK! Roger explained how the year had been crazy for the loved-up couple, saying: “It’s been a whirlwind. I think back to those first couple of days on the show – then Janey came in and everything changed for the better.” Janey added: “It’s gone by so quickly. We had about four months together before the show aired, when no one knew about us. Now everything feels so natural.” And talking about the highlights of the last 12 months, Janey sweetly admitted: “I just love having a boyfriend. I get to share things with someone and that’s what I’ve always wanted. It’s taken me a while to get used to it but we’re a team now. Roger will say, ‘You’re not on your own any more,’ but I was so independent, I struggled to ask for help.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
