Privacy NoticeChild TV star Benji Gregory has tragically passed away at the age of 46 after he was found dead in his car. The actor was best known for playing Brian Tanner on the hit sitcom ALF during the 80s. His sister, Rebecca, broke the heartbreaking news that her brother was discovered lifeless in a car park in Peoria, Arizona, about a month ago on 13 June. The location, as reported by TMZ, was the parking lot of a Chase Bank. In a touching statement, the heartbroken family of cherished actor Benji said they are “grieving a great loss” whilst expressing their thanks for the “appreciates everyone’s thoughts and kind words” from many. To commemorate Benji’s memory, they’ve suggested that those looking to pay tribute could make a donation to either The Actors Equity Foundation or the ASPCA.

While we’re still waiting for an official statement from The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office, early reports suggest that the tragic event took place on the confirmed date of 13 June. Rebecca has opened up about her brother’s personal struggles with depression, bipolar disorder, and a sleep condition that often kept him awake for days on end. Close pals believe that before his untimely passing, Benji had gone to the bank to deposit residual checks on 12 June but fell asleep in his vehicle. Given the scorching heat during Arizona’s summer, it’s speculated that he may have died from vehicular heatstroke, reports the Mirror. According to Intrepid Travel, June temperatures in the area can soar to an average high of 41 degrees Celsius (106F), with lows around 23C (73F). In a heartbreaking twist, Benji’s service dog, Hans, also lost his life in the car. Fans have flooded social media platforms with heartfelt messages of condolence for the actor and ex-serviceman. One fan voiced their sadness, “Omg! That is crushing. So young.. why.”

Offering their condolences, a third penned: “Terrible condolences to his family and friends.” Rising to fame with his part as Brian Tanner in the beloved TV show Alf, Benji graced the screen in 101 episodes from 1986 to 1990. He pursued other acting roles but ultimately stepped away from the limelight in 2003 for a different call of duty enlisting in the US Navy. Demonstrating his versatility, Benji thrived in the Navy, qualifying as an aerographer’s mate.
