Privacy Notice It was a week of bombshell revelations, celebrity snubs and, no doubt, heartache for Meghan Markle after her dad once again laid bare the family’s private pain for all to see. In an incredibly candid interview with the British press, Thomas, who turns 80 this month, spoke about his sadness over his estrangement from Meghan, 42, and Prince Harry, as well his deep regret over never having met his grandchildren. He also compared himself to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s other grandad, King Charles, saying neither of them deserved “the treatment we’ve received” from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Now that his revelations have truly sunk in for the royal couple, a source tells OK! that Meghan feels “under attack” yet again, especially from the dad she once shared a close bond with.

“It’s been a hard week for Meghan and she feels like she’s constantly under attack,” they claimed. “The revelations about her and her dad’s private talks have been hard as she thought she had moved on from that. “They were always so close and although she had cut him out from her life after everything, it still understandably devastates her that they no longer speak. Before she met Harry, she had a very good relationship with her dad but all that has changed.” Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland and Thomas divorced when she was six, but the former Suits actress has previously recounted numerous happy memories of time spent with her dad. In 2013, she told Esquire magazine about her time on the set of Married… with Children, the live-action sitcom Thomas was working on as lighting and photography director. “Every day after school for 10 years, I was on the set of Married… with Children, which is a really funny and perverse place for a little girl in a Catholic school uniform to grow up,” she said.

However, their relationship today looks very different, and Thomas said he has yet to meet his daughter’s husband, let alone their children. Meanwhile, Prince Archie, five, is thought to have met his grandfather King Charles only a handful of times and Princess Lilibet, three, just once – during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of summer 2022. While Meghan and Thomas’s relationship appears to have become increasingly strained over the years, it took what could be seen as an irreperable hit when Thomas staged paparazzi photographs before her wedding to Harry, 39, in 2018. In his latest revealing interview, Thomas said he found it odd that Harry didn’t suggest meeting him before the couple’s big day, despite having the “resources to fly across the world”. According to our source, their estrangement has left Meghan feeling increasingly isolated. “She no longer speaks to her own family, apart from her mum, and they no longer have anything to do with Harry’s family so at times it is understandable that she feels quite isolated. She was always so close to her dad and she misses being able to talk to him, he would always give good advice. But Meghan knows that she can’t go back.” Just before Thomas’s interview was printed, Meghan’s brother-in-law Prince William was seen rubbing shoulders with Hollywood royalty, Taylor Swift, at the opening night of her London Eras Tour concerts.

The Shake It Off singer posted a behind-the-scenes photograph of a beaming William, 42, with Princess Charlotte, nine, and 10-year-old Prince George, along with her NFL boyfriend Travis Kelce. She captioned it: “Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start”, and it was then reposted by The Prince and Princess of Wales’ official X account (formerly Twitter). According to reports, Taylor had previously ‘snubbed’ Meghan by declining a request to appear on her Archetypes podcast. Our source claimed that seeing William and Taylor’s public declarations would have “hurt” the Duchess. “And it seems more people in Hollywood want to side with the royals, and that hurts her,” they said. “When she saw Taylor Swift posing with William and George and Charlotte at the weekend it must have been hard for her.

“Taylor has snubbed her before and Meghan has already lost friends along the way. She feels that it’s been a tough price to pay.” Despite the strained relations with Thomas, the King and William and Kate Middleton, our source claims that Meghan still has a strong group of friends rallying around her, most of them based near the couple’s Californian home in Montecito. They also said she has learnt the hard way who she can trust – and who she can’t – but that she isn’t one to suffer fools lightly. “Meghan has lots of other friends she can count on as well as Doria, and she feels very blessed with that,” they said. “She knows that sometimes people befriended her for the wrong reasons so she’s pleased that she has a group she can trust. “But it always hurts to think of all the people she has lost along the way and would love her family to be more than her, Harry, Doria and the kids.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
