The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly been invited to celebrate the festive season at Althorp House with Harry’s uncle, Charles, Earl Spencer, reports Express.co.uk. If they accept the invitation, it would mark Meghan’s first significant visit to the UK since attending the late Queen’s funeral in 2022. However, insiders reveal that the couple has not yet received an invite to join the Royal Family for their traditional Sandringham gathering, and it’s doubtful they would accept even if one was extended.

An insider told the Express: “Charles [Spencer] has invited Harry, Meghan and the children to Althorp this Christmas,” adding, “It’s far too early to say whether they will take him up on it, but the offer is there if they want it.” They also mentioned, “There hasn’t been an invitation extended to Sandringham just yet, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be one forthcoming.” The source further speculated, “It would be highly unlikely if there was an invitation extended [to Sandringham] and I don’t think they [the Sussexes) would take them up on it anyway.” It’s worth noting that Harry and Meghan have been noticeably absent from the Royal Family’s Christmas gathering at Sandringham since 2018 and were also excluded from the Firm’s recent “summer summit” at Balmoral.

Reports suggest that Prince Harry paid a visit to Althorp House – the ancestral home of the Spencer family and the final resting place of his late mother – during his recent trip to the UK. The Duke, who is gearing up to celebrate his 40th birthday next week, was present at Lord Robert Fellowes’ memorial service in Norfolk on 28 August. In a surprise move, Prince Harry made an appearance at the service in Snettisham, Norfolk, and is believed to have stayed at the Althorp estate in Northamptonshire. His brother, Prince William, also attended the funeral, but according to eyewitnesses, the two brothers maintained their distance and sat separately at the back of St Mary’s Church. The service was held just two days before the 27th anniversary of Diana’s death.
