Privacy NoticePrince Harry and Meghan Markle erased her first names from son Archie’s birth certificate. The unprecedented move came after the boy’s birth on May 6 2019. Little Archie’s birth was registered 11 days later, however an amendment was then made on June 5. That change removed Meghan’s first names ‘Rachel Meghan’ from the certificate and instead it read ‘Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex’. The Sun reports that the change occurred in the midst of rumours over a rift developing between Harry, brother William and their partners. All three of the Prince and Princess of Wales children have Kate’s names on their birth certificates, and the paper claims that the move by Harry and Meghan was to snub them.

Contestant who has written several books on the Royal Family, who discovered the amendment, said: “It is extraordinary and raises all kinds of questions about what the Sussexes were thinking.” Dickie Arbiter, the Queen’s ex-press secretary, said the changes could be “an early part of their plan.” Royal expert Ingrid Seward added: “For a royal to change a birth certificate is unprecedented but to remove forenames is remarkable. Perhaps this is another sign they were desperate to do something different to the Cambridges.”
Meghan and Harry are staying in the public eye
Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan hit the headlines again last week, although this time they managed to avoid any controversy around the Royal family. The pair took part in a TV interview focussed on the couple’s new project, which launches next week and supports parents of children affected by online harm. The spoke about their need keep their children Archie and Lilibet protected, stating that as a parent it is “all you want to do.” The interview featured the couple discussing their work with parents who have lost their children to online bullying and their campaigning to address the problem. Meghan said: “Our kids are young, they’re three and five, they’re amazing.
