Privacy NoticeAfter Kate Middleton’s incredibly moving cancer update in which she discussed her “new perspective on everything”, a source tells OK! that her words have given Prince Harry and Meghan Markle renewed hopes for a fresh start. Last week The Princess of Wales released what is probably the most intimate look at her life with Prince William and their kids that we’ve ever seen, as she updated the world on her cancer treatment after what had been “an incredibly tough” nine months. After announcing she’d completed her course of chemotherapy, Kate said: “The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you. With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything. “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”

As well as her touching words, Kate’s choice of clothing, a boho style dress by Veronica Beard, also attracted attention because the American-based designer had been a long-time favourite of her sister-in-law Meghan, 43. Our source claims the video has given Harry, who turns 40 this week, and Meghan, an opportunity to pause and reflect on their broken relationship with the Waleses. “Meghan never thought there could be a way back for her and Harry with Kate and William but after seeing Kate’s video, it’s made her think differently,” our source claims. “Obviously her and Harry are happy that she has finished her treatment and is getting better, and it was great to see her and William being so natural in the video and seeing how much the kids are growing up. “Also, with Kate’s poignant message about love and her illness putting a different perspective on life, Meghan’s hoping things may change for the better. She knows how much Harry wants to see his family and misses them and both couples have been through so much, that she feels it could be time to finally move on. Meghan hopes this is the beginning of new start for her and Kate.”

Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, has allegedly invited the California-based foursome to spend the Christmas holidays at the Althorp estate, which has been in the Spencer family for 500 years. If they were to travel back to the UK, it would be the first time Meghan has spent any longer than a few hours here since the funeral of Harry’s grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth, in September 2022. Our source says Harry and Meghan were “very touched” by the invitation, and Meghan has always been “very welcomed” by the Spencers because of what they experienced when Diana married into the royal family. Harry recently stayed at Althorp when he travelled home for the memorial service for his and William’s uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, who was married to Diana’s sister, Lady Jane Spencer.

However, a trip with Meghan and four-year-old Archie and two-year-old Lilibet would likely be a much bigger deal in terms of planning and logistics alone. And after Harry spoke recently about his fears over Meghan’s safety in the UK, it’s very much up in the air whether they’ll come. But given Harry’s relationship with William appears to be at something of a stalemate and Kate’s impassioned words last week about entering “this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life”, the Christmas trip could provide an ideal opportunity for the families to begin repairing their broken bonds. “Meghan knows they will all have to make an effort including herself and if they do come over at Christmas, it could be the perfect time to try and improve relations,” our source claims. “It would be a huge U-turn for Meghan, and for all of them. But they all know that life is short and she is willing to make an effort for the sake of Harry and the children. “Having a relationship with Kate and William can only be a good thing and it wouldn’t be like last time as Harry and Meghan have their own life in the US and have said their piece about their treatment when they were royals. “Meghan wants to be able to visit the UK without worrying about the backlash and bring her kids here to meet their cousins and learn about their heritage.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
