Meghan Markle’s new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, gives viewers an intimate glimpse into her Montecito lifestyle, complete with a surprising moment where she gets worked up over a turnip. The Duchess of Sussex’s much-awaited show launched today, alongside her famous friends like her Suits co-star Abigail Spencer, Delfina Blaquier, and culinary maestro Roy Choi, as she dishes out her top tips on gardening, cooking, and entertaining. In a charmingly offbeat scene, Meghan appears visibly excited as she tells culinary legend Alice Waters, “I feel like you’re watching me fall in love,” while munching on a turnip. She even has a Fred Flintstone moment, triumphantly pulling out a fish bone and shouting “yabadabadoo” during a cook-along with pals Abigail and Kelly Zafjen. At one point, Meghan jokes, “My bacon brings all the boys to the yard,” hinting that Prince Harry and their three pooches can’t resist popping into the kitchen when she’s frying up the crispy delight.

While crafting a floral arrangement, Meghan shows off her penchant for tidiness by whipping up a DIY bin for any offcuts, and shares a cute anecdote about her daughter Lilibet, who has invented a song titled ‘Clean as You Go’—which Meghan adorably sings a line from. She also lets slip about her musical preferences, confessing a fondness for yacht rock and French dinner party music above all else, reports the Mirror. In the second episode, Meghan corrects one of her famous guests who gets her surname wrong. Actor Mindy Kaling tells Meghan: “People wouldn’t believe that Meghan Markle ate at Jack in the Box.” To which Meghan responds: “It’s so funny, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I’m Sussex now.” Royals use their titles in place of surnames, so Harry is officially Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, while Meghan is Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Their children, Archie and Lilibet, were granted Prince and Princess titles following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.

However, these titles aren’t really practical in day-to-day life, especially as the family have now made new lives for themselves in the US. But it seems the couple have kept with royal tradition and decided to turn their title into a family name for everyday use. Meghan explained how much the surname means to her in a new interview with PEOPLE magazine ahead of the show airing. She described it as part of her and Harry’s “love story”. The Duchess affectionately told the publication: “It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognised how meaningful that would be to me until we had children. I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me.”
