Privacy NoticeA mum who named her little boy Lucifer is gearing up to parade him in a devil’s outfit this Halloween. Ronni Lily, from Birmingham, sent shockwaves amongst her loved ones with her choice of name, which even led some relatives to avoid saying the highly unusual name. Yet, 28 year old Ronni and her partner Brad are brushing off the drama. They were inspired by the baby name after they binge-watched the hit Netflix show Lucifer, reports the Daily Star. And undeterred, the horror-loving mother can’t wait for her little one’s first October festivities. “We are not religious so the name has no dangerous connotations for u,s but I am obsessed with Halloween,” enthused Ronni.

She added: “I make sure the house is fully decorated inside and out. I can’t wait to make my little devil’s first Halloween one to remember.” And she has already sorted Lucifer’s costume: “I’m going to dress him up in red with tails, horns and a pitchfork, of course. And then take him to baby classes and Halloween parties.” “I can already imagine the look on the other mum’s faces when I tell them his real name. Lucifer hasn’t started nursery yet but I have no doubt that his name will raise a few eyebrows when I do register him. But I’m sure nursery workers have heard far worse.” Despite the ominous-sounding name, Lucifer actually means ‘bearer of light’ or ‘morning star’. But it is more commonly known as the name of the devil – and is even banned in some countries. While the name isn’t illegal in the UK, it certainly sparks debate over its suitability for a newborn.

Ronni has been on the receiving end of bitter comments from online trolls who have branded her “cruel” and suggest she’s paving the way for her little one to be targeted by bullies. Nevertheless, Ronni and her partner Brad are adamant that the name fits their January-born baby to a T. The decision on the distinct name was made when mum Ronni was only 16 weeks pregnant. Speaking about her unconventional choice, Ronni revealed: “We both loved his name from the start and still do. I’m not concerned his name will cause him problems at school or later in life, but he has a common middle name, Ashley, that he can use if he ever wants or needs to.” She continued: “He is a really cheeky chap now with such a funny personality. He is so close to walking and I know that’s when the trouble starts. He may have a devilish personality during the toddler or teenage years, but there is nothing negative about his name. He is our Lucifer the Legend.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
