Privacy NoticeMcDonald’s Big Mac sauce finally went on sale across the UK and it caused chaos as fans spent hours queueing in a bid to get their hands on the limited edition pots. The signature special sauce is being sold in dips for 50p each, with a limited number allowed per customer, but some savvy fast food lovers have managed to snap up multiple pots and promptly put them on eBay. As well as the 50ml tubs, bottles of Big Mac sauce have also appeared on the auction site with one seller asking £10,000 for one of the 500 bottles that are available, declaring half of the final sale will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Fans lined up outside the Leicester Square McDonald’s to get their hands on limited edition pots of Big Mac sauce
Just 250 dipping pots of the iconic sauce, which is made using a special recipe, went on sale in Leicester Square to celebrate the launch of the product on Thursday. For the next six weeks the restaurant chain will be selling a limited quantity of the special sauce for people to add to their home cooked recipes to #MacItBetter as well as for their nuggets.

Some fans have tried to make the most out of the limited edition run of special sauce by selling the dipping pots and bottles on eBay, but other shoppers would have to be quick to purchase as the sauces only have a week-long shelf life. If you don’t fancy shelling out the £10,000 asking price one brazen seller is asking for (partially in the name of charity), others are offering more affordable options with bidding at around £25. The 50ml dipping pots are appearing on the auction site for less than £10.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said about the special sauce launch that they were expecting fans to snap up the sauce in bulk. “A limited run of the pots will go on sale and is expected to quickly sell out with restaurant staff prepped for bulk orders and big queues. “The 50ml pots will retail for 50p each, will be available 24 hours a day, have a seven-day shelf life and when they’re gone they’re gone.”

How you can recreate Big Mac recipe …
The Big Mac sauce has always been hugely popular and has been used in the burger since it signature recipe was finalised in 1972. The ingredients are no longer a trade secret, with many McDonald’s chefs confirming that the sauce is made up of mayonnaise, mustard, sweet pickle, white wine vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika. It hasn’t changed much, with a slight alteration made in 1991, only for it to return to its original incarnation back in 2004.

Fans love it so much that some even request extra in their burger when ordering so they can use it as a dip or even just ask for a pot by itself – which is believed to be only handed out at the discretion of a store manager. The other sauces – which are actually for chicken nuggets but often requested with every order – are available for free, they are sweet curry, barbeque, tomato ketchup and sweet and sour.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
