Privacy NoticeMaya Jama and Stormzy have called it quits once again. The Love Island presenter and the British rap sensation, who first sparked a romance five years ago, have confirmed they’ve gone their separate ways after rekindling their relationship for another year. Taking to her Instagram Story, Maya shared a message from both of them stating that they had “tried” to make things work. In a lengthy but heartfelt message announcing their split, the former couple told fans: “We’ve been laughing whilst drafting this because we never, ever, in a million years thought we’d be the couple announcing a breakup, but for the sake of clarity and, more importantly, to allow us the space and grace that’s needed for us both to be able to navigate this next bit of our lives with peace, we thought it might be best to.”

“We fell madly in love in 2014, broke up in 2019, and then spent five years manoeuvring life apart. We decided to try for the final time in August 2023, and we’ve spent this past year trying our best to make it work; however, we recently decided to call it quits.” The pair rekindled their relationship in August 2023 after they were spotted holding hands in Greece. Keen-eyed fans pieced together that the exes were both enjoying a holiday at the same resort in the Aegean, after they separately posted photos and videos on social media of their plush accommodation.

It was later reported that Vossi Bop vocalist Stormzy, 30, had flown out to meet Love Island hostess Maya, 29, on a private jet, joining her on the her luxe £2,700 per night vacation in the Peloponnesian Amanzoe complex. An inside source later claimed that the couple’s break in Greece is Stormzy’s “romantic” birthday gift to Maya, who turned 29. They later had gone from strength to strength with loved up appearances at The Brits, Paris Fashion week and most recently Glastonbury. The former couple also sparked engagement rumours after they shared an array of intimate snaps on social media. In one black and white photo, the pair are seen standing side by side, looking utterly smitten and the caption read: “LVovers. Thankyou for having us @louisvuitton @pharrell.”

Another post featured a video of the couple sharing a playful kiss and posing in the back of a car. However, it was a small package on the table that really added fuel to the rumours, leading fans to believe that an engagement might be on the cards. One fan commented: “For a second I thought the first pic was giving engagement.” Another said: “Telling my kids this was the king and queen of the UK.” Meanwhile a fourth added: “4th slide is giving mum and dad.” The pair first went public with their romance in 2016 after initially keeping their relationship private. However in 2019 representative for Maya confirmed the breakup to MailOnline at the time, claiming the Radio 1 DJ had moved out of the rapper’s home.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
