Privacy NoticeMatt Baker has shared an update on his recovery following a terrifying accident during a pantomime performance that resulted in him needing rehabilitation. The beloved BBC presenter was starring in a production of Goldilocks and the Three Bears when he suffered a horrific injury after a stunt involving chairs went awry. Matt plummeted to the ground when the chairs weren’t properly secured, causing him to land hard on his coccyx. The fall resulted in The One Show star experiencing a severely painful herniated disc in his spine. Despite attending regular rehab sessions, Matt is still dealing with the aftermath of the injury. In a chat with The Sun, the former gymnast described the challenging journey towards recovery as he works to regain his fitness and strength.

“It’s a pain, it’s really challenging to get back and get fully fit again. I’m still like really… yeah it’s really tough. I’m just trying to do rehab all the time and stretch and do strength training exercises and that,” he said during the interview. This week saw Matt make his television comeback as he launched a new series of the popular travel show Travels With Mum And Dad for More4. There have also been whispers of a potential return to The One Show, reports the Mirror.

Matt, 46, also hinted that you “never leave the family” having been a crucial part of The One show team four years after his departure. Speaking about his career journey and his time with the BBC, the dad-of-two shared: “All of the shows that I’ve worked on over the years, even like Blue Peter especially, you leave the show but you don’t leave the family. “I think that’s an important thing to remember and look, if they needed me then I’m more than happy to have a chat with them and see how I can be helpful.”

In addition to this, he went on to express his enduring affection for the show, making it clear that he would never discount a comeback because it holds a special place in his heart. Adding further sentiment, he said: “Who knows, who knows at the moment, I’ve not had any conversations with anybody, but like I say, it’s a show that I still absolutely love.” “I spent nine years of my life dedicated to it and it’s a show that’s very close to my heart. It’s a family and you never leave the family.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
