MasterChef’s Theo Michaels details three affordable gadgets your kitchen needsIf you’re a long-standing MasterChef watcher then you’ll know chef Theo Michaels well. The BBC One semi-finalist, presenter, author and previous MasterChef 2014 contestant has been a regular on our screens for years, also spending two years as resident chef on Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch, so if we were going to ask for kitchen advice from anyone, it would be him. Now, as Theo unveils his new book, Cypriana (order for £17.15 here from Amazon) with flavour-packed recipes that offer amateur chefs an authentic taste of Greece and Cyprus, the TV star – who has also put in regular appearances on This Morning – is sitting down with OK! to chat through the gadgets he believes should feature in every home kitchen to elevate regular meals into MasterChef-worthy ones – and the ones to make cooking easier than ever. Here’s what he recommends investing in for those looking to upgrade their home cooking experience… Kenwood MultiPro Go

“I love this bit of kit; it’s a mini food processor I use it a lot for grating and slicing for salads and slaws. But with summer (finally) appearing I change the attachment to the blade to whip any number of salsas, sauces and marinades which I love using while barbecuing,” Theo tells us. “It’s small enough to slip into a cupboard without taking up too much space, dishwasher safe (I hate washing up!) and it’s so good I bought my mum one as well! QVC’s shopping channel often has great offers on this!” Shop it for £53.90 here Carbon steel pan
“Carbon steel pans are my go-to,” says Theo

“I value beauty and functionality in my home kitchen. Carbon steel pans are my go-to, you can use metal utensils, no funny chemicals, just solid, built-last-a-lifetime pans with incredible heat retention and searing capabilities,” Theo shares. “You can go from cooking on the hob to oven to over an open flame (which we often do!). They become naturally non-stick once seasoned (or you can buy pre-seasoned). “I get a kick out of things lasting a lifetime; from my pans to a couple of classic old t-shirts! Samuel Groves and Alex Pole are both British manufacturers with a great tradition in cookware.” Shop a carbon steel pan from OXO for £42.92 here, or invest in a Samuel Groves 26cm Seasoned Carbon Steel Frying Pan for £55 here Good knives
Knives make a huge difference to the quality of your cooking

“It’s a cliché but a good knife will last a lifetime if looked after and is an extremely personal thing for a chef; it becomes an extension of yourself. I’d always recommend spending as much as you can afford on one good chef’s knife. But go find a shop, hold them, feel them until you find one that ‘clicks’ – then buy it and cherish it!” Theo explains. “I have two knives from Savernake, British knifemakers with great tradition in creating lifetime knives.” Stock your kitchen drawers with ProCook’s Professional X50 Chef Knife Set for £159 here (down from £219)Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
