Privacy NoticeMartin Lewis has spoken out after his wife Lara Lewington’s show was ‘dropped’ by the BBC. Lara, 45, who carved out a niche as a weather presenter on Channel 5 and is known for her tech expertise, was a familiar face on the BBC’s tech-focused programme Click. Lara took to social media today to announce the end of the show with a touching message: “Here’s to the future… some PERSONAL NEWS: After 15 years of covering some of the greatest technology on earth, sadly in a few months BBC Click will gaze into the future no more. I’ve many exciting plans, documentaries to finish, being AI agony aunt on @lorraine and a compelling future health tech related project coming next year.”
Lara shared a touching message to announce the end of the show
She also shared her appreciation for the opportunities provided by the BBC: “The BBC gave us an amazing opportunity to cover the tech that has, and will transform our lives, in ways we could never have imagined. It is a shame to see our dear show come to an end at this moment of AI transformation and incredible acceleration in innovation and possibility, but such are the economic constraints. “Over the years I have worked with some of the most brilliant, talented, creative and quirky characters that I am happy to call the Click family My co-host @spenley has been the cleverest and most generous colleague I could have dreamt of. As always for any tech journalist, I’m excited about what comes next..” Martin couldn’t help but gush about his wife, saying: “Very proud husband here. And in no doubt, one door closing will see many more open.”

The BBC has denied claims that the show has been axed – it will simply no longer be aired on TV, and the show’s name and presenters have all been changed. A spokesperson clarified in a statement: “Our flagship Tech show Click will be relaunched and renamed Tech Now, shifting from its traditional TV format to one where the films work best for digital,” the Daily Star reports. Fans of the show were quick to express their disappointment, with one lamenting: “Click has consistently been one of the BBC’s best outputs. Sad to see it go.” Another let off steam, exclaiming: “Oh FFS Click AND Hardtalk, when is the BBC moving to a Ceefax format instead of a news channel? ” Gabby Logan, who presents sports, showed her support for Lara, commenting: “You are brilliant at what you do Lara the world needs you explaining and bringing them the intel on new technology.” Yet another fan voiced their dismay, stating: “Very sorry to hear this, another own goal from the BBC. Hopefully Amazon or another broadcaster can pick it up. All the best.” Lara, who is highly respected in the field of tech journalism and is a known AI enthusiast, reportedly started dating Martin around 2005 while she was working at Five News.
