Privacy NoticeMarried at First Sight UK viewers were hit with a wave of discomfort during Monday’s episode, 23 September, as Alex and Holly tied the knot. At 29, single mum Holly was introduced, having welcomed her first child at just 16. But it was clear that Alex was somewhat unsettled about the idea of marrying someone with children. Twitter erupted with fans sharing their trepidation about the couple’s future, forecasting possible heartache. One perturbed fan pointed out on Twitter: “The experts matching Holly with a man who would rather be with a childless woman is a big no-no! That’s something that can’t be compromised on and should’ve been prioritised in the match-making process.” Another showed empathy towards Holly: “Why do I feel Holly is going to get hurt again? I hope I’m wrong.”

Scepticism over their longevity suffused social media, with tweets like: “Don’t have a good long-term feeling about Holly and Alex”, reports the Mirror. One viewer questioned the experts’ methods: “The experts seem to love taking a risk in matching polar opposites in the hope something good comes from it don’t they? ” Another chimed in with criticism: “Now you know the experts are messy for pairing someone who clearly isn’t ready to be a step-parent, with someone with kids.” There was a palpable sense of concern as a tweet read: “Every time Holly is on screen … I just feel bad for her and deeply anxious about how this is going to go.” The couple’s spark was undeniable, leaving Holly to label their match “perfect”. After tying the knot, the 29 year old bride decided it was time to let her new hubby in on a big secret she’s a mum.

Alex kept things low-key when he confessed to the camera, saying: “It is a bit of a shock that Holly’s got children. I wasn’t expecting it, I don’t know how I really feel about it.” He chose to play it by ear as the wedding festivities went on. Yet, the mood took a turn when Alex got chatting with one of Holly’s mates at the head table, wondering how he’d handle a partner with little ones already in tow. Admitting his lack of daddy duties thus far, Alex remarked: “It was a preference if they didn’t have kids, but if I fall head over heels for somebody, I’ll overlook all of that and you just love that person.” Holly, catching wind of Alex’s thoughts through a friend, couldn’t hold back the tears. Confronting her worries, she told the camera, anxiety lacing her words, that she feared Alex’s hesitation about her kids might just be too big a hurdle.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
