Privacy Notice Melissa Rawson has shared a devastating message about the guilt she’s felt following her estranged father’s sudden death. The former Married At First Sight Australia star, 35, openly revealed that she regrets not making amends with her father who she hadn’t been in contact with for 13 years. Melissa, who met her husband Bryce Ruthven on MAFS in 2021, shared an update on her father’s passing on her blog, Her Second Shift, with a childhood snap. She titled the post: “‘Grieving for a second time.’ My father died, and my guilt outweighs the grief.” She wrote: “My father will never know me as the woman I grew up to be, one he could hopefully be proud of. He will never meet or know his grandchildren.”

She continued, “I have grieved since a young age for a father who was never around. Now, I am grieving for a second time.” The doting mum to twins boys Levi and Tate, whom she welcomed with Bryce in October 2021, revealed that her father’s death didn’t come as a surprise considering the lifestyle he led. However, she went on to say that she always had a “glimmer of hope” that one day they would reconcile their relationship. Melissa also shared how she was overwhelmed with emotions following her father’s death, but her feelings were “anger, sadness, regret and shame”. Melissa last saw her dad when she was 19 years old when she attended her cousin’s wedding. The MAFS star heartbreakingly revealed that her dad said he thought of her every time he listened to the Green Day hit Time of Your Life. Melissa said she spent 16 years unable to listen to the song but now can’t stop playing it.

If you’re ready, don’t let that moment of forgiveness pass you by.” Melissa shared a screenshot of her blog update on her Instagram page, with a childhood snap alongside her dad and the caption: “I will remember you, Dad, RIP” followed by a black heart emoji. The 35 year old appeared on MAFS during season eight in 2021 and met Bryce Ruthven. After the success of the show, they got engaged in July 2021 and welcomed their twins just a few months later in October 2021. They tied the knot in February 2023 and are enjoying family life in Melbourne. Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
