The 12th season of the hit match matching experiment is well underway on E4, and has already featured lots of drama and shocking revelations. Tonight’s episode saw the group of newlyweds gather for the first dinner party of the series. While most of the couples happily walked in together, not all them were in marital bliss. One of the unlucky pairings were Katie and Tim, who both arrived solo after experiencing a turbulent time since their wedding. While they seemed like a solid match on paper, Tim quickly made it clear that he wasn’t attracted to Katie, repeatedly saying to producers that there wasn’t a “spark”.

A devastated Katie tried to make things work, attempting to build a connection with her husband on their honeymoon, but Tim refused to cooperate. However, at tonight’s dinner party, Tim told his co-stars that he felt he had been “making the most effort” in the relationship. “Hearing that, I was like, ‘What the hell? That does not make sense.’ He’s the one who’s pushed me away from day one, he’s the one that’s rejected me,” a shocked Katie said. “I was here to get to know you and when you don’t feel that you get that back, it’s devastating,” Tim continued, before saying that Katie had “betrayed” his trust by not sticking up for him in front of the group.

Tim’s unexpected admission left MAFS viewers up in arms tonight, with many taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share their disapproval. “That Tim is absolutely unbelievable,” one person wrote, with another adding: “Get Tim off my screen, I’m getting mad.” A third fan said: “Tim has zero respect for Katie. He has zero interest of how his behaviour affects her. I’m done.” “What the hell is going on. Who else is screaming at their TV,” another furious viewer commented, while a fifth fan echoed the sentiment: “This is heartbreaking to watch.”
Katie and Tim have had a turbulent relationship since their wedding day
It seems that fellow bride Jamie agreed with the audience, as she made her frustrations very clear at the dinner party. “I know what’s going on, I can see what’s going on, I’m not stupid. It’s just a gaslighting move, like what is this?” an angry Jamie said. “I know what it’s like to be in that position. I know what it’s like for someone to make you feel less than, dim your shine, make you question yourself, blame yourself – that is not ok.” Fans very impressed with Jamie’s intervention, saying: “Jamie has become one of the best ones in the entire experiment for being the only one to speak up for Katie and speak the truth.” “Everyone needs a friend like Jamie in their corner!!” another added, while a third said: “I’d want Jamie from #MAFSAU on my team any day of the week!” Married at First Sight Australia airs Monday to Thursday on E4 at 7.30pm
