The 12th instalment of the hit reality series returned to E4 on Monday (March 3), with a fresh group of singletons entering the experiment in the hope of finding their forever partner. In just three episodes, we’ve already seen a couple reunited at the altar after going on a date eight months before. Plus, a groom packed his bags on the honeymoon after his bride didn’t live up to his extensive list of “non-negotiables”. That’s not all, as another bride’s hopes were dashed when she realised her new husband didn’t feel an “initial spark” towards her, and therefore avoided her throughout the wedding reception. It’s already been very eventful, but it’s set to get even more explosive, if the season’s trailer is anything to go by.
The twelfth season of Married at First Sight Australia is currently airing on E4
The teaser clip, which was played at the end of the first episode, began with the highest of romantic highs, with one bride confessing: “We feel like we’ve known each other for a lifetime.” However, the marital bliss doesn’t last long, with a montage of crying cast members gracing the screen. “I’m here because I wanted a bloody Cam [Merchant] and Jules [Robinson] kind of love,” a tearful newlywed said. Fiery group dynamics also come into play, with the cast enduring several tense dinner parties – which push some couples to breaking point. But there’s one particular moment that leaves the experts speechless, with John Aiken confessing: “We’ve seen a lot of dinner parties over the years. This is outrageous.”
The season’s trailer has teased lots of drama and explosive confrontation
It’s not just the dinner parties that result in chaos, as the commitment ceremonies look just as insane. The experts do not hold back, with one clip showing Mel Schilling interrupting a conversation to hold someone to account. “This is inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour. That is a non-negotiable,” John added, before a frustrated bride is seen leaving the room while shouting: “Did you really think I was gonna give him the last word?” The explosive scene ended with a dumbfounded John saying: “It’s game over… I don’t think we’ve ever had that before.” After watching the dramatic trailer, legions of fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their excitement, with one writing: “That’s all to come up in the series this is going to be interesting.” “Can already feel this will be one of the best seasons of #MAFSAU yet,” another added, while a third said: “Oh wow the new series of #MAFSAU is going to be fantastic drama overload.”
The Married at First Sight experts will be holding several cast members to account
A fourth fan echoed the sentiment: “This season looks good. Australia reigns supreme in the MAFS universe lol.” Meanwhile, other viewers have issued a plea to the experts: “This drama is going to be outrageous this season. I just hope that people are held to account.” Show bosses previously teased that this season will be “the most explosive series yet” with moments that have “never been seen before in the history of the show”. There will also be a brand-new twist added to the experiment called Final Test Week, which will see the couples faced with their biggest challenge yet as they’re asked the age-old question, “Is the grass greener on the other side?” “With the unpredictable dinner parties and emotionally charged commitment ceremonies, prepare for laughter, tears and a whole lot of drama, as this season surprises with shock twists and turns,” Channel Nine previously said in a statement. Married at First Sight Australia airs Monday to Thursday on E4 at 9pm
