More than three years after announcing their engagement, former Love Island stars Lucie Donlan and Luke Mabbott reveal they’re now ready to start making concrete plans for their wedding. The couple got engaged in December 2021 in a picture-perfect moment, as Luke proposed to Lucie amidst the breathtaking backdrop of Finland’s Northern Lights. Since getting engaged, Lucie and Luke have been taking their time, enjoying their long engagement without putting undue pressure on themselves to set the big day in motion. But telling us that a week-long getaway to Vancouver’s scenic town Whistler in Canada has sparked fresh inspiration for their wedding plans, the couple said, “We’ve had a long engagement which has been lovely as it has given us time to really think about our dream day.

“We now know exactly what and I think going on this trip really sparked some more inspiration for our wedding plans.” Lucie rose to fame in Love Island back in 2019, while Luke was on the show a year later in 2020. They both failed to find love on the ITV2 show, with Lucie famously coupled up with Tommy Fury before he found love with Molly-Mae Hague. While Luke paired up with Demi Jones but failed to make a lasting romance work away from the show. Lucie and Luke then met outside the villa and began a relationship in 2020.

Fast forward 17 months, and an overjoyed Luke broke the news of their engagement via Instagram, expressing, “Mrs Mabbott to be. The northern lights made an appearance for the perfect moment to pop the question. A night we will never forget.’ Recently, the lovebirds embarked on another thrilling adventure-filled holiday, enjoying skiing, zip lining, cocktail making, and more. It seems like their adventure in Whistler has ignited some inspiration about bringing their own wedding day to life. Describing the trip – which was with Crystal Ski Holidays – as ‘magical’, the couple said, “We’re both so passionate about snow sports and doing it as a couple is something we have shared the love for since we got together, so to do this trip together was magical.”

It’s hardly surprising that Luke and Lucie have popped their wedding planning on hold, given they’ve had quite a hectic time transforming their Cornwall pad – which started life as a 1879 Chapel. Luke, a plumber by trade, has been getting stuck in by doing the renovations himself. And Over a year into sprucing up their home, the couple are still grafting away.
