Privacy NoticeLove Island star Sam Gowland has followed up earlier posts commenting on the case of missing teenager Jay Slater with a reaction to the latest update. The TV personality, who also appeared in Geordie Shore, wrote: “Absolutely shell shocked #jayslater #tenerife #explore #explorepage #fypage #foryou #foryoupage,” reacting to the news that a body has been found in the Masca area of the popular holiday island of Tenerife. Apprentice bricklayer Jay, 19, went missing on June 17 in a remote area of Tenerife after visiting the island for a three day music festival with friends. He left them to travel to a remote Airbnb rental with two other people in the early hours, and his last location via his phone was the Parque Rural de Teno nature reserve. On Monday 15 July, Spanish police in Tenerife released a statement saying they had found a body and were in the process of identifying it, with officers telling the press that “Evidence strongly suggests” that the remains are those of Jay.

Previously, Sa m Gowland has posted his opinions on the case to his one million followers on social media. On Saturday 6 July, he called for the British police to be sent to Tenerife to pick up the investigation, writing: “What on earth is going on?” Frustrated at the lack of progress at the time, he continued: “I just don’t understand why it’s been two weeks now and there’s not been any significant breakthrough. Why have they not sent the British police over seeing as everyone involved in the case is British?” Sam, who appeared on Love Island in 2017, isn’t shy about sharing his opinions, last year taking to TikTok after fans criticised his dental work. After spending £6,000 on veneers in Turkey, he was bombarded with negative comments and defended his decision to have the procedure in the country.

In the video, he said: “Getting a bit p****d off to be honest with you, with every single time I do a TikTok or I do a video, and people are commenting, and I know it’s for attention.” He continued: “People commenting saying ‘worst teeth I’ve ever seen, they look like a pack of chewing gum, they look like a gum shield, they look like piano keys’… “The teeth cost £6,000 to get done, there is a reason they cost £6,000, it’s because I went to the best people in the world to get them done, I said I went to Turkey because that’s where the best veneers are.” The viral star has also shared videos and photos of other work he has had done, including a beard transplant in 2022.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
