The show, titled With Love, Meghan, is an eight-part lifestyle series set in a stunning Californian home where the Duchess dishes out her best tips on cooking, gardening, and entertaining. As ITV’s Lorraine aired a preview, the host remarked: “I wonder if the Royals will be watching? We’ve got a first look as Meghan makes her return to television. Doesn’t that all look so clean and gorgeous and lovely and unrealistic though, for the rest of us!” Released on Tuesday morning after a delay from its initial launch date, the series became a hot topic on Lorraine’s show, with Royal commentator Russell Myers and Ayesha Hazarika weighing in. After viewing a clip of Meghan hosting a dinner party with friends and Prince Harry, Kelly questioned: “Do you think it was worth the wait? We have been getting teased by this for a while.”
Lorraine was less than impressed
Myers responded: “I really wanted to watch this and be behind Meghan. I didn’t want to say – of course it’s not for me, I don’t think I’m Meghan Markle’s target audience.” He added: “But where is the substance here? That’s what I think it’s lacking, there’s a lot of box ticking in there, we’ve got beautiful views, we’ve got the dogs, there’s lots of dried flowers, there’s lots of beautiful atmosphere in the house that isn’t her own.”
With Love, Meghan shows Meghan cooking at home
The Royal commentator expressed to Lorraine his confusion about the target audience for the series, musing that it might have been better suited for social media as bite-sized clips between two to five minutes. In the conversation, Lorraine turned to guest Ayesha Hazarika, who commented, “I always stuck up for Meghan Markle, I think she had a really hard time when she was here.”, reports Bristol Live. “So, I really wanted to go in and love this – it is cringe. I made loads of notes and I kept writing the words, ‘get a job’. Who has got the time to make your own bath salts and do all of this?”
Lorraine and her guests chat about Meghan Markle’s Netflix series
Lorraine couldn’t resist teasing about one segment’s portrayal of domestic life, jokingly asking, “Are you seriously, though, trying to say to me that you don’t in the morning and everyone, when you’re getting the kids out to school and stuff, that you don’t cut up fruit in a beautiful way and put it in the shape of a rainbow? Are you telling me that?!” The synopsis for the controversial series details: “This inspiring series, produced by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, reimagines the genre of lifestyle programming, blending practical how-to’s and candid conversation with friends, new and old. “Meghan shares personal tips and tricks, embracing playfulness over perfection and highlights how easy it can be to create beauty, even in the unexpected. She and her guests roll up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same.” Lorraine is on ITV1 weekdays at 9am and on ITVX
