Privacy NoticeLorraine Kelly was visibly moved as she confessed that her thoughts are constantly with Liam Payne’s young son, while paying tribute to the late star. The former One Direction member, Liam, tragically passed away at 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. The heartbreaking incident took place following a performance by Niall Horan, his ex-bandmate, which he attended with his partner, Kate Cassidy. Prior to his untimely passing, he had reunited with ex-girlfriend Cheryl to jointly parent their cherished son Bear. During Thursday’s episode of Lorraine Kelly’s chat show, the Scottish presenter, 64, honoured the singer, saying that the news is “unbelievably heartbreaking”.

In an emotional moment, Lorraine expressed: “I was generally shocked when I saw this, it’s absolutely tragic. I can’t stop thinking about that poor wee boy because Cheryl is going to have to break the news to him,” reports the Mirror. She went on to say: “He is only seven years old and Liam was always talking about his son, he was a really devoted dad. He might not have been with him all the time but he was a very devoted dad. We’ve seen lots of photographs with his son and he spoke about him a lot too.” Lorraine then viewed a clip of her first interview with Liam and his former One Direction bandmate, when he was just 15 years old.

The host continued: “He was just adorable. The news is just unbelievably heartbreaking. I remember that time speaking to him, he was just so fun. When you spoke to the band he was always the grown up of the group.” Lorraine, visibly moved, shared: “My thoughts are with his family and friends but especially with his little boy. It’s very sad. He was taken away far too soon, only 31 years old.” Liam, who became a father to Bear with Cheryl in 2017 when he was just 23, split from her the following year after a two-and-a-half-year relationship.
Liam was dad to Chery’s seven-year-old son Bear
Since their break-up, Cheryl, 40, and Liam had been co-parenting, although Liam had been largely absent from Bear’s life. An industry insider previously revealed to OK!: “We don’t see a lot of Bear on Liam’s social media but I think he wants to prove to Cheryl that he’s getting his life together. “He really wants to be a good dad and with Cheryl about to hit the road again with Girls Aloud, she’ll be busier than ever and not around as much.” Lorraine is on ITV weekdays at 9am and on ITVXStory SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
