Privacy Notice Lorraine Kelly is now a proud grandmother as her daughter, Rosie, recently welcomed her first child into the world and this morning, Lorraine appeared on Good Morning Britain bursting with pride as she told Susanna Reid and Ed Balls about the new arrival. But Lorraine also added that while she is already doting over her granddaughter, called Billie Kelly Smith-White, she doesn’t want to be “annoying and interfere”. During today’s GMB (Monday 2 August), Susanna welcomed Lorraine as “Granny Smith” before congratulating her and asked their fellow talk show host to tell them more about her granddaughter. Lorraine told Susanna and Ed: “Baby Billie is here, oh, she’s beautiful, she’s absolutely beautiful. Eight pounds, three ounces of joy. Rosie and Steve have taken to it so, so well.

Lorraine told Susanna and Ed: “Baby Billie is here, oh, she’s beautiful, she’s absolutely beautiful. Eight pounds, three ounces of joy. Rosie and Steve have taken to it so, so well. “It’s brilliant, everybody said to me ‘oh you won’t believe how much you will love this tiny thing’ and of course you do. But it’s amazing to see your own child have a wee baby.” Lorraine then went on to add “I’m going to try really hard not to be annoying and interfere”. But Susanna reassured her that interfering is actually just being “supportive”.

The ITV star, who returned to her show today after a break over the summer, also joked that she felt like “running out of the hospital” with the baby. Lorraine offered advice to her daughter which was to “leave” all the housework and spend her spare time sleeping. Lorraine announced the safe arrival of Billie on social media. Along with a picture of Billie’s hand grasping Rosie’s finger, Lorraine wrote: “I have been BURSTING to share this wonderful news with you! Baby Billie is an angel and I’m so proud of @rosiekellysmith and @stevewhite94 who will be the best parents. I’m delighted to be Granny Smith and can’t wait to go on adventures.” Lorraine also re-shared 30-year-old Rosie’s announcement post, which read: “Baby Billie Kelly Smith-White is here 29-08-2024 It feels like she’s been here the whole time and we’re not quite sure what the point of anything was before. “I’d heard how amazing midwives are but they are genuinely walking angels – she’s been welcomed into the world with so much love already”.

Lorraine made no effort to hide her excitement of becoming a grandparent since Rosie announced her pregnancy in April 2024 and even set up her own nursery at her house for when the baby comes to stay. In another interview Lorraine said welcoming the new baby would be the “most exciting thing” to have happened in her family for “a long time”.
