Privacy NoticeJust hours after her hip replacement, Loose Women’s Janet Street-Porter has reached out to her fans. The 77 year old telly legend was all smiles in a snap taken from her hospital bed on Saturday afternoon, this coming just days after she announced she’d be taking a break from the beloved ITV panel. She captioned her post-surgery pic: “Three hours after hip replacement-masses of strong pain relief resulted in huge smile of relief! Then the drugs wore off…but I’m walking with a trolley HOORAY XX.”

Close pal and Loose Women co-star Katie Piper wrote: “So happy to see you smiling and walking already.” While Nikki Shore joined in saying: “I hope your recovery goes well, you are inspirational Janet.” Sarah Millican sent her thoughts too, simply writing: “Sending love.”, reports the Express. Janet revealed on Wednesday’s Loose Women that she would bow out from the show for some time as she gets back on her feet post-operation. Host Christine Lampard addressed the hiatus early in that episode, signifying it as Janet’s “last day for a little while”. Janet agreed, stating: “Yes, on Friday I am heading off to have a hip replacement operation at last and I can’t think about anything else. As I’m sitting here, I’m shaking and shivering and I keep dreaming about it. I keep thinking ‘what if they can’t get it back together’. I am going on Friday, I’ll have the operation Friday afternoon, stay in hospital for a few days then I’ll really work on it at rehab so I can come back as soon as possible.” Coleen Nolan joined the conversation and confessed: “You know this morning when we were talking about it – it made me really sad because you always put on this tough image that nothing does your back in and at one point today you said ‘I’m really scared’ and I could have cried my eyes out.”

Janet admitted her vulnerability: “I am vulnerable and you know what it’s my own fault because they told me in March to have it done but I delayed it. Then at the weekend, I had some vegetables delivered and even though I shouldn’t I was on all fours planting them.” “I woke up on Sunday morning and I couldn’t move and now I’ve really messed up the other side of my back and I had to lie-down for two days.” She candidly shared her exasperation, saying, “I realised that I let myself get too weak and I’ve never been like this in my life and it’s just so irritating.” Rounding things off, Janet was surprised with a thoughtful gift basket, topped off with a heartwarming framed photo of Coleen.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
