Privacy NoticeIf you dive deep into the golden era of noughties kids TV, you’ll soon find Lizzie McGuire. The Disney smash hit, which graced our screens for the first time back in 2001, was a phenomenon that teens worldwide identified with thanks to its heartwarming plot and characters. Centred around Lizzie, a character portrayed by the talented Hilary Duff, it stole our hearts as she faced (and tamed) her teenage tribulations. One of the unforgettable elements of the show was the quirky animated version of Lizzie, also voiced by Hilary. This unique touch gave us insight into what the protagonist truly felt and thought.

Even though the series concluded in 2004, it left behind a legacy of 65 memorable episodes over three years. A little later, in 2003, fans were treated to The Lizzie McGuire Movie, as Lizzie embarked on an Italian adventure. All you need to do is think about the words “sing to me Paolo”, and we’re sure fond memories will come rushing back. While Hilary Duff has managed to stay in our lives, there’s one individual from the TV show who may have slipped your mind, and that’s Lizzie’s pesky little brother, Matt McGuire. Jake Thomas, now 34, played the role perfectly, but he looks totally different two decades after the show’s debut. During his younger days, Jake clinched a Young Artist Award for his role as Martin Swinton in A. I. Artificial Intelligence (2001). He also played Jason Stickler in Cory in the House (2007-08). More recently, he was actually set to reprise his role of Matt McGuire on Disney+, as the show was meant to make a big come back. Sadly for Lizzie fans, plans to re-vamp the show didn’t go ahead, and it was cancelled before it could hit our screens back in 2020.

Even though you may think you haven’t seen him for a while, Jake has actually popped up in a number of shows throughout the years. For example, he played Eric Miller in the Without a Trace episode “Wannabe”, and also portrayed a young Hugh Hefner in the television film Hefner: Unauthorized. He’s also appeared in Storytellers, S. W.A. T and NCIS. As well as this, Jake spends his time working as a commercial photographer and director too. In other words, he’s come far since hitting the screens as Lizzie’s “annoying” little brother. Jake is now all grown up, but he’s still making big waves in the industry. Ever since Lizzie McGuire left our screens, people have been calling for the show to make a return. On X, one viewer wrote: “Still waiting for the Lizzie McGuire reboot to come back.” Another said: “I’d give anything in the world for Lizzie McGuire to come back.” And a third added: “Justice for Lizzie McGuire.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
