Privacy NoticeClaudia Winkleman looks incredible in the second series of The Piano on Channel 4, even though she famously ‘hates exercise.’ The 52-year old looks better than ever in her hosting role alongside Mika and Lang Lang, and despite trying to avoid exercise at all costs, she credits her long-lasting good looks to her gym classes, the braces she got later in life, and taking afternoon naps. She also — although dermatologists may advise otherwise — refuses to drink water. Regardless of her animosity towards the gym, Claudia has admitted to dragging herself to workout classes to maintain her toned legs and arms. Her favourite form of exercise at the moment is a spin class at hit London studio, Psycle. This is because, according to the BAFTA Award winner: “I’m locked into the bike, so I can’t leave. Because anything else, I will leave.”

She told Marie Claire: “I don’t like sweating, I don’t like pain, I can’t get my head around any of it. It’s not for me. I know when I’m best and that’s lying down.” After spending 45 minutes on a gruelling spin bike, it’s no wonder Claudia feels comfortable showing off her legs in kilts on The Traitors and ball gowns on Strictly. She enjoys the spin studio — which was founded in 2014 and now has five branches across London — because the low lights and the booming music make her feel like she’s on a night out. According to Claudia, at Psycle: “I’m dancing, there are tequila shots, I’m waving at Lenny Kravitz.” For most people, tequila shots during a spin class sound like the worst drink in the world, but for Claudia that label is reserved for water. While appearing on the Off Menu podcast in 2020, Claudia shuddered at the thought of starting her meal with still or sparkling water. She said to the stunned hosts: “I don’t like or believe in water, I won’t have it… I’ve never knowingly had water, I don’t like it.

Claudia admitting on the Off Menu podcast that she hates water

“I’m never thirsty, I’ve never been thirsty…. and I don’t like the taste. Sparkling is too much of a shock. I just don’t like liquid… is this too weird?” The presenter credits her bright smile to getting Invisalign when she was 46-years old, as when she hit middle age her teeth shifted and she needed help to get her smile back. To Claudia, there’s no shame in getting dental help at any age. And, as one of the most famous faces on telly, getting a retainer to re-straighten her brilliantly white teeth was certainly worth it. Luckily for her she has admitted that she loves brushing her teeth, and finds the Invisalign to be a miraculous invention. Despite maintaining a modelesque frame, Claudia despises the idea of dieting, and rejects the notion of a “cheat meal.” She hates the idea of food being seen as anything other than delicious and nutritious.

In a column written for The Times in 2019, Claudia wrote: “The diet choices are endless — just broth after 4pm, three-day pure vegetable cleanses (someone needs to come to their senses and reveal the truth: kale is revolting), and then there’s the whole “cheat meal” thing. What’s cheating about a burger? What’s so bad about deep-fried chicken?” The woman with the UK’s most famous fringe has also credited her wellbeing with not having any mirrors in her house. She was raised in a home with no mirrors and the belief that your exterior is the least interesting part of you, and this is something she wishes to pass down to her children. Lastly, although she is one of Britain’s hardest working presenters, Claudia always makes time for an afternoon nap, sometimes even two. In another column for The Times she said: “[a nap] can make all the difference between a good day and a bad day, an excellent weekend or a meh one.” The Piano finale airs on Sunday, 9 June on Channel 4 at 9pm Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
