Privacy Notice She may have catapulted to fame back in the 1980s when she was just 18 years old after becoming the youngest ever presenter of Blue Peter, but since then Yvette Fielding has carved out a very different career for herself. After her husband, cameraman Karl Beattie, suggested that she visit a haunted house alongside a production crew, 54 year old Yvette stepped into the world of the paranormal and became the host of Most Haunted. And while she regularly spends much of her time finding Britain’s haunting hotspots as part of the show, when she’s not investigating the supernatural Yvette can be found at her quirky Cheshire home. So, as she opens up her doors to OK!, let’s take a peek inside…

Having recently celebrated her birthday at home, the historic property is filled with balloons and banners which can be seen hanging from the home’s wooden beams and bannisters. However, in between the party decorations, glimpses of the property’s centuries-old history is clear to see thanks to a variety of incredible artefacts on display – most notably a mummified cat found under the bathtub. “We removed the cat once and all hell broke loose. Everything that could go wrong did. It was placed there to protect the house, so there it will stay,” says Yvette.

Elsewhere, the property has a distinctly cosy feel thanks to its rich and antique interiors. The living room for instance features a series of red Chesterfield sofas, three stag head wall mounts and a stunning ornate fireplace. Meanwhile, the room is also decorated with lots of patterned scatter cushions, elegant floral bouquets and coffee table books, giving a sense of sophistication among the cosiness. Taking a trip into one of the home’s bedrooms and this cosy feel continues thanks to its four poster bed, bright red wallpapered wall and unique freestanding bathtub that occupies one corner of the room.

And given that Yvette has garnered some serious status within the paranormal community on the back of her Most Haunted adventures, perhaps it’s unsurprising that Yvette’s home is a reflection of her connection to the spirit world. In fact, the downstairs loo is filled up with her various awards and accolades, her garden shed is used to performance seances and the dining room, Yvette claims, has seen the table fly to the other side of the room. But while Yvette may have moved into the property 20 years ago, she and Karl, 59, aren’t the only ones to reside in their home, with the pair welcoming paranormal guests including a Cavalier called Charles Deacon and two small children called Master Benjamin and Elizabeth.

“When we moved in 20 years ago, we’d hear knocking at the door but there’d be no one there and we’d find the kitchen chairs stacked on top of the table in a pyramid,” she explains. As a result, Yvette isn’t comfortable with being home alone and sets a few boundaries to make sure things don’t go bump in the night. “I tell them, ‘I’m on my own and you know I get freaked out, so be nice,’” she says.
